The wonderful murals adorning our Main Hall here at BHASVIC were made by Louis Ginnett (1975 - 1946) - painter, portrait artist and designer of stained glass (he did our windows, too).
He exhibited widely in his lifetime, including at the Royal Academy, and was one of the British artists selected to be exhibited by the British Council in 1912 in Venice.
The nine huge mural panels that circumnavigate the walls, showing detailed scenes symbolic of Sussex’s role in English history. Ginnett worked on the project across 25 years - according to the University of Brighton piece on him linked below, "in terms of the scale of the piece, the panoramic qualities and the sense of loyalty to the region and the school (the project) is quite remarkable".
This is well worth a read and will add new sense of appreciation for this marvellous room and artist.
