St. Anthony's Pre-School

We have started reading and enjoying ‘The tiger who came to tea’ this week, with the children wanting to act this out with a tea set.
They were very helpful is helping us wash all the baby clothes and hanging it out on the washing line.
The children have enjoyed activities on strengthening their fine motor skills from opening and closing pegs, using tweezers, squeezing water out of clothes and building.
Next week is our last week before we close for 1 week half term.

What a way to celebrate David Attenborough’s 100th birthday today! The children all dressed up as animals and made playdough cakes and candles (100 apparently) and then enjoyed real cakes to celebrate. The children enjoyed activities all day eg. sorting animals, colouring animals, talking about different habitats.

Earlier on in the week the children finished off looking at ‘people who help us’ with a visit from PC Brad and Doctor Emma, telling us about how they help our communities. They also showed us their uniforms and medical kit.

What a week!
We have had visits from a local teacher talking to us about what a primary school may look like, what to expect and answer any questions we had.
We also then had the fire brigade come and show us their fire engine and all the amazing tools, ladders, sirens and lights on it. Some of us went in the fire engine to try on their helmet and use the heat camera on each other and learn how to use a torch. Finally we learnt about fire safety with the fire fighters.

We have enjoyed looking at ‘People who help us’ these last couple of weeks and will continue this next week too, with some exciting visitors coming to the preschool. We have been very lucky with the weather and enjoyed being outdoors. Please continue to wear hats and apply sun cream on the morning.

We have had a great first week back after the Easter break. We’ve been on a bear hunt and had a visit from the wonderful volunteers at the coastguard. We enjoyed a teddy bears picnic in the sunshine and role played police officers in the case of the missing bear!
