We have been focusing a lot on our motor skills over the last few weeks. The children have been drawing with pencils, riding on garden equipment, playing with our new sand tray and climbing on the soft play! All of these things help to develop the children’s fine or gross motor skills.✏️ 🛝
The children have enjoyed taking part in some sensory activities recently. They have been popping bubbles, dancing with different materials and looking at our fairy lights in the dark. 🫧
A few weeks ago we had a teddy bears picnic! The children were able to bring in a special teddy from home to nursery and we all sat in the garden, read our “Teddy Bears Picnic” story and had a delicious snack. 🧸
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone next week.

For the past 3 weeks the children have been watching our caterpillars grow! We have spoken about how caterpillars turn into butterflies and have been reading ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and singing our caterpillar song, which the children love. We are really looking forward to seeing them turn into beautiful butterflies! 🐛 🦋
The children have been spending lots of time in the garden as the weather has started to get warmer. They have taken part in messy play activities such as dried and cooked spaghetti, kinetic sand and and they have particularly enjoyed painting the gates and walls with water and paintbrushes. The children have also showed lots of interest in the insects in the garden, especially the buzzy bees!🐝
We have been working on the children’s independent personal hygiene and talking about why it is important to keep our hands clean and keep the germs away! 🦠
We hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend in the sun.☀️

Over the last few weeks at nursery, we have been focusing on the children’s personal, social and emotional skills. The children have been looking after the toy babies, feeding them, dressing them and rocking them to sleep and have also been working really hard on sharing and taking turns with all activities. This can really help them to become more confident and build new friendships! 👯♀️👯♂️
The children have loved being out in the garden enjoying the sun and playing lots of games. They have particularly enjoyed the ‘Hokey Cokey’ and ‘Hide and seek’ these last few weeks which also develops their skills when working in a team. The children have also been continuing on with their balancing skills in the garden and have made progress from walking to jumping across the stepping stones! 👏
As always the children have enjoyed messy play at nursery so here are a few things you could try over the bank holiday weekend;
-Hair gel/Jelly and sea creatures/animals
-Bug hunts in the garden 🐞🕷️
-Shells/stones collected from the beach which you could then use for printing/painting 🐚
We hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone next week :)

Over the last few weeks at nursery the children have been developing all of their skills by doing puzzles, taking part in lots of role play activities, building with our magnetic tiles and being out in the garden. 🪴
We have celebrated pancake day in which the children enjoyed trying some pancakes and strawberries for their pudding after lunch! 🥞🍓
This week was world book day and lots of the children dressed up as their favourite book characters, we’ve had princesses, firemen, cocomelon characters and the gruffalo! The children have also enjoyed dressing up at nursery too and reading lots of their favourite books. 📖
Children love reading stories and it is a good way to develop their speech and understanding at any age. By reading to them they are picking up lots of new words and helps to expand their imaginations!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week ! ☀️

This term we have been concentrating on our fine motor skills, connecting balancing beams, stacking cups and building towers with magnet tiles!
We have been making the most of the sunshine and have been out in the garden as much as we can, developing our physical development. 🏃 🏃♀️
We have also enjoyed lots of messy play activities, exploring our senses and feeling lots of different textures of rice, crushed cereal, cooked pasta and cornflour and water (gloop). 🍝
As the children have particularly enjoyed messy play this term, here are a couple of activities you can do over half term with them. You can always add different food colourings/flavourings to these to explore the children’s senses and identifying colours.
