Founded in 1856, LGS Stoneygate is an independent co-educational day school in the Leicestershire countryside.

Educating ages 4–16 from Early Years to Senior School, we offer small classes, strong pastoral care and a nurturing, family-centred environment. We are located in the rural setting of Great Glen in Leicestershire. The key to our success has been our dual focus on achieving high academic standards through properly structured and resourced lesson time, whilst providing extra curricular opportunities in the performing arts, sports and other leisure activities.

Navigating routes across the Northamptonshire countryside, they demonstrated outstanding resilience, teamwork and independence, working together to overcome challenges and support one another every step of the way.

From setting up camp to preparing meals and navigating their routes, the students showed remarkable self-reliance, leadership and cooperation throughout the expedition.

A huge well done to all involved, and thank you to the staff who supported this rewarding experience. We are incredibly proud of you all! 🌟

🌿🌊 Geography came to life for Year 5 during a fantastic cross-curricular visit to Wistow!

Exploring the river environment first-hand, pupils investigated the process of erosion and brought their classroom learning to life as they identified key geographical features including river beds, river banks, meanders and river mouths.

The day also provided plenty of opportunities to develop forest school skills, work collaboratively and build confidence through outdoor learning and exploration.

A wonderful day of discovery, teamwork and hands-on learning in the great outdoors! πŸ‘πŸƒ

🦈🌊 An underwater adventure for Year 1!

Our Year 1 pupils had a fantastic day exploring the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, where they discovered more about ocean animals and the habitats they call home.

From coming face-to-face with sharks and stingrays to meeting rescued sea otters, there was plenty to spark curiosity and excitement throughout the day. One of the biggest highlights was watching the playful Gentoo penguins from Antarctica swimming, diving and waddling around their enclosure! πŸ§β„οΈ

πŸ€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ Learning beyond the classroom took on a delicious twist for our Year 9 pupils recently!

We were delighted to be invited to visit Jimmys Killerprawns Leicester for a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the hospitality industry. Pupils toured the kitchens, met the team, and discovered the hard work, organisation and teamwork required to keep a busy restaurant running smoothly.

They also had the opportunity to step into the shoes of Front of House staff, gaining valuable experience of customer service and the many different roles that contribute to creating an exceptional dining experience.

To top off a fantastic visit, pupils enjoyed a delicious meal and left with a greater appreciation of the hospitality sector and the exciting career opportunities it offers.

A huge thank you to the entire team at Jimmys Killerprawns leicester for their warm welcome, generosity and for providing such an engaging and memorable experience. We are incredibly grateful for your support. β€οΈπŸ‘

πŸŒπŸ“ Geography came to life for our Year 8 pupils as they headed into Leicester city centre to investigate the impact of regeneration on the local area.

Visiting four locations across the city, pupils conducted observations, surveys and interviews with members of the public, gathering valuable primary data to assess the social, economic and environmental effects of regeneration. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting while developing key fieldwork, communication and analytical skills.

To round off a successful day, pupils put their teamwork and competitive spirit to the test with a Ryder Cup-style mini golf competition at Treetop Golf! β›³πŸ†

A fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom, combining academic enquiry with plenty of fun along the way.
