For People Who Help Us Week..
We encouraged the children at our Melton Road Nursery to tidy up independently after messy play. They used the toy brush and pan to sweep up, which helped to develop their hand-eye coordination, concentration, and listening skills. This activity also supports their growing independence, sense of responsibility, and an understanding of how people can help to keep our environment clean and tidy.
The children also enjoyed role play by pretending to be dentists. They used their imagination well during pretend play, built on their communication and language skills by talking to one another in sentences of up to 4β6 words, using new key vocabulary to extend their language.
Through this activity, the children learnt about oral hygiene, why we brush
our teeth, and why it is important to visit the dentist. They also developed
their physical skills by squeezing toothpaste onto a toothbrush, while building friendships as they played and learnt together.

During Sun Awareness Week..
The children at our Melton Road nursery learnt about how to stay safe in the
sun, including what they should wear and keep on during hot weather βοΈ
They also enjoyed a name-recognition activity, placing the letters of their names correctly onto a yellow sun. This supported their fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, communication and language development. It helped them build sentences using new key words of up to 4β6 words. The children also practiced important social skills such as taking turns, sharing, waiting patiently for their turn π
We encouraged the children to explore the messy play tuff tray. During this activity, they used scoops to pour into ice cream cones, showing good hand-eye coordination and strong concentration. This play experience also helped to develop their confidence, control with the enjoyment of sensory learning.
