โ๐บโ๏ธ SCIENCE CAFE RETURNS!
After a long hiatus, we're delighted to present the return of the popular Science Cafe we used to run in the formative years of the Festival.
Every month we present one of the many amazing Science Communicators from across NI to tell all of their research and work in their area of expertise to the public for cheaper than a cup of coffee or a pint of beer.
First up, join astrophysicist and former NASA researcher Dr. Ryan Milligan for a fascinating journey through two decades of eclipse chasing, from remote corners of the globe to the path of totality itself. Discover what causes solar eclipses, why people travel thousands of miles to experience them, and how you can safely view this summerโs partial eclipse from Northern Ireland. ๐๐
With the next year offering the only opportunities this century to witness totality from mainland Europe, thereโs never been a better time to learn about these awe-inspiring celestial events. ๐๐ญ

A quick update for anyone considering tuition for the next academic year.
Unfortunately, I've recently discovered that the enquiry form on the MJ Tutors website wasn't working correctly. As a result, a number of enquiries never made it through to me.
I've spent the last few days working with tech support to get everything sorted and I'm pleased to say that the new form is now live and working properly.
If you previously submitted an enquiry and never received a reply, please accept my sincere apologies. Unfortunately, you'll need to complete the new form so I can receive your details.

September spaces are beginning to fill quite fast, so if you'd like to be considered for the new academic year, I'd encourage you to get your enquiry in sooner rather than later.
๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฑ/๐ฎ๐ฒ, confirmation emails were sent earlier this week, I'll be in touch shortly to finalise arrangements for September.
As always, thank you for your continued support.

A quick note for any families from the 2025-26 year whoโve not yet confirmed their space for the new academic year:
๐๏ธ Your space has now been released and is open to new students starting this September.
Itโs been brilliant working with so many of you this past year and I completely understand how busy life gets. That said, if you were hoping to return and just hadnโt got round to confirming, thereโs still time to reach out.
Just drop me a message or email [email protected] and Iโll get back to you as soon as I can.

Another year done โ๏ธ
First of all, I need to put my hands up. I did a bit of a runner after last Wednesdayโs final class having been running on fumes by the end of May ๐
Truthfully, most homes are probably the same right now...exhausted students, relieved parents, empty highlighters and enough past papers lying about to wallpaper the living room.
Itโs hard to put into words just how grateful I am for the support MJ Tutors has received once again this year.
Every family that booked a lesson, recommended me to a friend, shared a post, trusted me with their childโs education or simply turned up every week and gave it their allโฆthank you.
There are endless tutoring options out there nowadays and I never take it lightly that so many families across Northern Ireland chose me to support their young people through GCSEs and A-Levels.
This year alone Iโve had the privilege of working with hundreds of students. From helping build confidence, calming nerves before exams, turning โI canโt do thisโ into โactuallyโฆmaybe I canโ, and watching so many young people grow not just academically, but personally too.
That part never gets old.
And look, exam season is intense. By May weโre all basically being held together by caffeine, routines and the faint hope that CCEA doesnโt decide to produce an absolute horror show of a paper ๐ญ
But genuinely, seeing students walk into exams feeling calmer, more prepared and believing in themselves a little more is what makes all of this worthwhile.
To every student finishing their journey this year, I genuinely wish you all the very best for what comes next.
And to those continuing on into 2026/27โฆIโm looking forward to getting back at it again in September ๐
๐จ September availability is already beginning to fill and priority is currently being given to existing students.
If youโd like to register interest for September lessons (GCSE or A-Level Maths/Physics), please visit: www.mjtutors.com/join
Thereโs already been more interest than expected, but Iโll be working through all enquiry forms shortly.
Have a fantastic summer everyone โ๏ธ

With the end of the academic year on the horizon, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to work with all students over the last year.
For those still working away and prepping for the final batch of exams, my fingers are well and truly crossed that all goes well๐ค๐ป
It's hard to believe, but I've been able to support more than 5,000 students from all over NI doing this job. Thank you to everyone, past and present, for playing part in something so incredibly special to me. This journey continues fill me with much hope for our shared futures.
Thank you to all who have placed their trust in myself to help. There are a thousand other options out there and without your unwavering support, this business would not survive.
I'm opening my diary for those who want to come onboard for the new term in September. You can register your interest here: www.mjtutors.com/join.
Here's to an ever bigger and better 2026-27!

Weโre now officially into the final 10 days of classes for the 2025/26 academic year with my final day of classes on ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ณ๐๐ต ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ณ
At this stage every lesson matters.
The students making the biggest improvements right now arenโt necessarily the โnaturally giftedโ onesโฆtheyโre the ones still showing up, still asking questions and still putting the work in when others are beginning to switch off.
That final push can make a massive difference come results day.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has already reached out regarding next yearโs tuition. The response this year has been genuinely incredible.
A lot of September spaces are already beginning to fill and Iโll be confirming timetables and replying to enquiries over the next week or so.
Every year I have to turn away families who leave it until August/September to ask about availability, so if tutoring is something youโre considering for next year I honestly wouldnโt leave it too long.
Iโll be working with a limited number of GCSE & A-Level Maths and Physics students again this year, with priority continuing to go to existing students first.

I feel as though I've learned a lot this year ๐ญ
After almost a decade and having worked with more than 5,000 kids across the country, I can confidently say that success at GCSE and A-Level is rarely about โnatural talentโ.
It almost always comes down to consistency, confidence, structure, and having someone who can guide the process properly.
Iโve worked with students this year who started out completely overwhelmed by Maths or Physics. They were convinced they โjust werenโt good at itโ.
And yet over time those same students began asking better questions, thinking more clearly, gained confidence and produced results they genuinely didnโt think were possible months earlier. That transformation is probably the most rewarding part of what I do.
This year has also shown me how much pressure young people are under. The pressure to perform. The pressure to keep up. The pressure to have everything figured out at 15, 16, 17 years old.
Sometimes students donโt just need equations explained. Sometimes they need reassurance, structure, perspective, and someone calm in their corner. And I think that matters more than ever.
To all the students and parents who trusted me this year, thank you genuinely. I know families make sacrifices to invest in tutoring and I never take that lightly.
As we head toward the end of the academic year, Iโm already looking ahead to September and thinking carefully about how to make next year even better again because progress breeds progress.

Let's talk exam revision.
Not the kind that happens the week before. The kind thatโs built properly over time with structure, accountability and a clear plan.
Every year I see the same thing, students working hardโฆbut struggling to move the needle.
It's not because theyโre not capable, but because they donโt actually know how to revise effectively and thatโs where the difference is made.
I work with students every year, helping them turn effort into results.
๐ The goal isnโt just โmore revisionโ, itโs better revision.
๐
September 2026 places will be locked in shortly.
Priority goes to existing students, with a limited number of new places available.
If youโre thinking ahead and want things done properly, keep an eye out.
