**BBC series opportunity for children aged 5–8 in Merseyside**

We’ve been contacted by the casting team at Five Mile Films, who are working on a new BBC series called *Will You Be My Friend?*, from the award-winning team behind *The Dog House*.

The series is about childhood friendships and follows children aged 5–8 who may sometimes find friendships or social situations difficult.

The team are currently looking for curious children in the Merseyside area who love discovering new things, asking big questions, and exploring ideas. They would especially love to hear from young robotics, coding and AI enthusiasts.

Across three half-days during the summer holidays, child psychologists support the children as they build confidence and social skills, before they are sensitively matched on a filmed playdate with a potential new friend from their local area.

Filming is planned for July and August 2026.

Parents can find out more and apply here:

Please note: this is not an ICEskool project. We are simply sharing this external opportunity with families who may be interested.

Our first ICEskool camp was a blast.

Was everything perfect? No.

On the first day, the air conditioning decided not to work on one of the hottest days. Not ideal, but we made it work.

And in a way, that was part of the learning too. Things do not always go to plan. You adapt, solve the problem and keep going.

Across the camp, children had the chance to try lots of different things:

robotics
coding
LEGO animation
video editing
poster design
prototype building
3D design and printing
music and AI
machine learning games
Minecraft challenges
board games
teamwork and problem-solving

Some children loved building.
Some preferred designing.
Some enjoyed storytelling.
Some got really into coding.
Some liked testing ideas and changing the plan.

That is what we wanted from the camp: to give children options and let them discover what they enjoy most.

At ICEskool, children do not just follow instructions.

They try things, make mistakes, fix problems, improve their ideas and create something of their own.

We are really proud of what they made during our first camp, and we are already looking forward to the next one.

Who says robotics isn’t creative?

In this lesson, children built their own robot spirographs and used code to create Robo Art.

Each artwork was different because the children changed the code, adjusted the movement, tested the robot, and improved their results.

They learned coding, robotics, patterns, symmetry, problem solving, testing and debugging, while also creating something unique and personal.

At ICEskool, children don’t just follow instructions. They build, code, experiment and create.

Big news for the ICEskool family!

We are incredibly proud to share that we are now an official Children’s University Learning Destination. At ICEskool, we’ve always believed that the most powerful learning happens when kids are having fun, solving problems, and getting hands-on with technology. Now, that effort is formally recognized!

What does this mean for you and your child?
When your child joins us for robotics, coding, or AI sessions, they can now earn credits in their Children’s University Passport to Learning. It’s a wonderful way to:
✅ Boost their sense of achievement.
✅ Provide extra motivation to tackle complex challenges.
✅ Celebrate their commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

Quick Guide for Parents:

•Credits: 1 hour of learning = 1 credit (up to 10 per term).
•Stamping: Send in those passports at the end of the term!
•Extras: Keep an eye out for our camps and special events for bonus credits. 🏕️

We’re honored to be part of a program that encourages children to keep exploring and growing. Let’s make this term the most rewarding one yet!

Wondering what actually happens at a £5 taster session?

Here's the honest answer 👆

Your child turns up, gets stuck into a real hands-on project, builds something, codes something, problem-solves — and walks out buzzing.

No experience needed. No long-term commitment. Just £5 to see if they love it.

We run robotics, coding and AI classes for ages 6–12 in Waterloo (Fridays), Formby (Mondays) and Bridge Chapel, L19 (Wednesdays & Saturdays).

Let me ask you something honestly.

How much of your child's week is spent doing things that actually build useful skills? Not homework they forget by Friday. Not screen time that leads nowhere. Real skills. The kind that help them think, create, and solve problems on their own.

Most parents I talk to say the same thing:

- "My child is bright but gets bored easily"
- "They love building things but school doesn't really give them that"
- "I want them doing something useful, not just another activity to fill time"
- "They spend too long on screens and I want something better"

That's exactly why we built ICEskool.

Every time, kids come to our classes and spend an hour building robots, writing code, and solving challenges. No screens to stare at. No worksheets. Just real hands-on projects that stretch their brain in a way school often can't.

Here's what parents have noticed after just a few sessions:

✅ Kids start problem-solving on their own at home — not giving up when something is hard

✅ Siblings who normally argue actually work together in class

✅ Shy children start speaking up because they're proud of what they built

✅ Screen time arguments reduce because they've found something they actually want to do

✅ Children start asking questions about how things work — not just consuming, but thinking

None of this happens because we lecture them. It happens because they're building something real and the learning comes naturally.

Swipe to see what your child actually gains from one robotics session. It's more than you'd think.

🎟️ Trial session — £5. No commitment. Just come and see.
