Thanks to a generous donation, researchers at the University of Liverpool will be able to explore new approaches for how we detect, understand and treat Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
This will include investigating parts of our DNA that have been previously overlooked.

Congratulations to our alumni and staff recognised in King's Birthday Honours 2026 🎉
Those honoured have made significant contributions from a range of fields, including gaming, healthcare, public service, science and digital inclusion.
Alumni awarded include Dr Deborah Faint, Lorna Gibb, Elizabeth Prince, Margaret Swinson, Professor Paul Taylor, Dr Roger Walton, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University Dr David Wright.

"My favourite spot on campus was the Sydney Jones Library Café." ☕ 📚
From time spent studying in the Sydney Jones Library to sunny afternoons in the Quad, graduate Caroline Wong reflects on her memories and friendships made at university. For many alumni, that connection to Liverpool never really leaves - no matter where they are in the world.
She explains: “The university experience did not just stop at graduation. It continued as we have an active alumni community in Hong Kong where we meet for social events.”
Now, through supporting students through the Student Fund, alumni like Caroline are helping future generations create memories and friendships of their own 🎓

Thanks to alumnus Alexander Cavadias, Co-Founder and CEO of TheCart, who recently returned to the University of Liverpool Management School to share his journey from student to startup founder with our current students.
Alex, who studied Business Management with a Year in Industry, delivered a guest lecture as part of the Marketing Strategy module, along with a workshop at the Sir Peter Rigby Centre for Enterprise.
He shared insights into his entrepreneurial venture, TheCart, a personalised shopping app designed to transform how users discover and purchase products online. The platform enables users to save items from across the internet into one central space, while its AI-driven technology curates personalised recommendations, offers tailored discounts, and champions UK independent and SME brands.

Thanks to the generous support from University of Liverpool alumnus and senior international business leader, Dr Huw Jenkins, a new Chair will be established supporting the leadership of the University’s new Centre for Clean Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET).
Dr Jenkins' support enables the appointment of the inaugural Jenkins Professorial Chair, who will also serve as the founding Director of CEET and maintain an active and internationally recognised research portfolio. The Chair will be based in a department aligned with their academic expertise.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Jones said: “We are extremely grateful to Dr Huw Jenkins for his generous support. This significant investment will help us to attract outstanding academic leadership to the new centre and put us in a strong position to deliver real-world impact through our research and innovation."
