A look at last year’s Prom! ✨
Our Prom is a big deal to us at ES. Our team works hard to raise money to cover everything from decorations to food. We ask for donations from our local community, and people kindly help out with prom dresses, hair, makeup, you name it!
So much hard work goes into giving our young people these fabulous opportunities that they may not have gotten otherwise.
We can’t wait for this year’s Prom on Thursday in Huddersfield! 🪩🕺💃

A statement on the decision to ban under-16s from social media in the UK:
“As the CEO of Employability Solutions and an independent school leader working daily with vulnerable young people, I welcome any measure that seeks to improve children’s safety and wellbeing online.
I have seen first-hand the impact that social media can have on concentration, mental health, self-esteem, body image, and young people’s perception of the world around them. Tragically, we have also experienced the devastating consequences of online conflict escalating into real-world violence, including the loss of a 16-year-old young man to knife crime that escalated through social media.
Whilst enforcement will undoubtedly be challenging and many young people will find ways around restrictions, this announcement sends an important message: children’s safety must come before platform profits. It is not a complete solution, but it is a positive step towards creating a healthier and safer environment for the next generation.”

Grace's Story 🪥🦷
When Grace joined the Youth Hub, she had just completed a training course and an admin voluntary placement, but she was interested in starting an apprenticeship in dental nursing.
After completing apprenticeship applications, Grace was invited to two interviews for an NHS Admin role and a Dental Nurse apprenticeship.
Her journey whilst on our programme:
📝 We updated Grace's CV, helped her with applications and writing personal statements that reflect her skills, experience and qualifications.
☺️ We also worked on Grace attending appointments independently and building up her confidence.
🔍 We helped Grace prepare for interviews by researching the roles and organisations and practising answers and examples.
Grace was successful at her interview for the Dental Nurse apprenticeship and started her employment in February! She is now working towards her National Vocational Qualification, and we couldn't be prouder!

Last week, our staff took part in epilepsy awareness and management training as part of our ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and student wellbeing.
The session provided valuable knowledge and practical strategies to help us better understand epilepsy, recognise different types of seizures, and respond confidently and appropriately should a student require support.
At our school, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and included. By continually developing our knowledge and skills, we can create an environment where all students are able to thrive and reach their full potential.
A huge thank you to our trainers for delivering such an informative and engaging session!

Scott's Story!
When Scott first joined our Youth Hub, he was unsure about the kind of job he wanted to do long-term, but he was keen to land his first role and gain experience.
His journey whilst on our programme:
📝 We worked on Scott's CV to ensure it showcased his skills and qualities to employers when applying for jobs.
🤝 He attended the Jobs Clubs on a Monday at Netherley Youth & Community Initiative. During these job clubs, we were able to provide Scott with more intense support, including setting up online job profiles.
🍽 An opportunity came up with the LFC Foundation and Liverpool Experience Campus (ACC) for a 2-week hospitality programme, where he gained a qualification in Customer Service.
Scott was then offered a role with the ACC, working within executive hospitality boxes! He is continuing to enjoy his role and has built up his confidence massively since joining the youth hub! 👏
