Reflection is one of the most important skills within clinical psychology.
It helps us learn from experiences, make meaning from challenges, and identify opportunities for growth.
Yet after receiving disappointing news, many aspiring psychologists move quickly into self-criticism, comparison, or uncertainty about what to do next.
Tree of Life offers a structured, supportive opportunity to pause and reflect.
Rather than focusing solely on what didn't happen, participants are invited to explore their strengths, achievements, relationships, values, and hopes for the future.
This workshop was created specifically for aspiring psychologists navigating disappointment after the DClinPsy application cycle.
Join Pathfinder before 27th June using code NEWLEAF to receive your first month free and attend the workshop.

A skewed distribution occurs when the data is not evenly spread around the mean, with a longer tail on one side of the distribution. This can distort analyses and interpretations, especially when compared to a normal distribution. Skewness can indicate outliers or underlying issues in the data, often leading to the need for further statistical adjustments.

We are delighted to be welcoming you to our June Workshop: Tree of Life for Unsuccessful DClinPsy Applicants.
Not securing a place can bring grief, self-doubt, and a sense of disconnection, and yet it can also be a moment to reconnect with who you are, what has sustained you, and the story you want to carry forward. This masterclass offers an engaging, compassionate space to explore strength and growth after rejection, identify the values, strengths and relationships that continue to nourish you, and begin re-authoring a narrative that honours both loss and resilience… alongside others who truly “get it”.
Workshop highlights
• Feel connected to a narrative of strength and growth after DClinPsy rejection
• Identify the values, strengths and relationships that continue to nourish you
• Begin re-authoring a story that honours both loss and resilience
• Give and receive encouragement in a safe, compassionate peer space
This workshop blends theoretical teaching with practical learning, supporting aspiring clinical psychologists to develop confidence and competence in reflection.

The International Day of Yoga highlights practices that focus on movement, breath, grounding, and body awareness. For some people, gentle embodied practices can support regulation, connection with the body, and emotional steadiness, particularly when used in a trauma-informed and choice-led way. Psychological approaches emphasise autonomy, sensitivity to triggers, and avoiding one-size-fits-all assumptions.
Question: What kinds of activities help you feel more connected with your body and sense of calm?

World Sickle Cell Day raises awareness of sickle cell disease and the inequalities many people experience in pain management, diagnosis, and access to compassionate care. Living with a long-term condition can affect identity, confidence, education, employment, and relationships.
Psychologists may support emotional adjustment, advocacy, and understanding the impact of racism, stigma, and healthcare bias on people’s experiences.
Question: What helps people feel heard and believed when they seek medical support?

Experiential Learning Theory (Kolb, 1984) suggests that growth happens through experience, reflection, learning, and action
Yet many aspiring psychologists only focus on the final outcome.
It is easy to overlook the confidence gained from interviews, the insights gained from feedback, the experiences gained through work, and the resilience built through setbacks.
Even if this application cycle did not go to plan, you are not starting from the beginning.
You are moving forward with more knowledge, more experience, and a deeper understanding of yourself than before.
Our Tree of Life workshop has been designed to help aspiring psychologists recognise and build upon that growth.
