London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy:
I would like to thank Judi and Bernd for all their hard work. They are so much more than just tutors, working tirelessly to bring training of the highest standard to their students. They teach with passion and humour and really care about each and every student, helping and coaching wherever necessary.
I have loved being part of it all for the past two years and look forward to ongoing professional development and continuing to work with them.

Rabbi Joe Dweck, Patron LDPRT:
The London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy ensures that this most important field in mental health and well-being is supported and developed. The programme, led by Judi Keshet-Orr and Bernd Leygraf runs at the highest standards and professionalism. The more safe, professional, therapeutic and nurturing space that is afforded to us in order to learn to conduct healthy relationships and intimacy, the better it is for society. I am pleased to be a patron of the programme and wish it continued success.

Nice read.

Helper Syndrome By Gabor Maté When problems aren’t fixable, as they can often seem in these times, we therapists are faced with the predicament of trying to solve the unsolvable. This predicament lies at the very source of our distress as healers.

Straight men: a unique challenge in psychotherapy.
Straight men, in the past often characterised as 'patriarchal' often represent as a marginalised client group. We may see as a result of insecure attachments, affect dysregulation, and problematic socialisation males who appear withdrawn, confused, unresponsive, and emotionally dissociated. Understandably ambivalent to psychotherapy, these men are also longing to be understood, seen, and validated. Are there special skills that are effective for the psychotherapist working with this particular demographic? How might female or male therapists need to adjust their skills set?

13.15 Working with High Conflict couples
This talk will explore the key to interpersonal effectiveness is the ability to self-regulate. Based on the principles of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) emotional dysregulation is often the core problem for individuals, couples and families who experience high levels of conflict. Long-standing patterns of destructive conflict in relationships create suffering and can end in seething stalemate with parties reacting poorly leading to depression, anxiety, substance use and negative impact on children /family members. As a result, couples end up getting less of what they really want (peace, less conflict, love). I will discuss some strategies and skills which may be helpful in making the shift to closeness, friendship, intimacy and peace.

14. 14. A walk across the bridge
Transition can be seen as a journey across the space between one gender and the other. Travellers pass in either direction. Some complete the journey and find a new life on the other side. Others stop along the way, and set up home, half way, as if in a house on the Ponte Vecchio. A few discover that this is not their true path and return to where they started. Along the way, travellers are assailed by voices screaming that they are threats to the natural order, or helpless victims of societal prejudice. In this context, the therapist may be seen as a guide, accompanying the trans person along a path whose steps may include recognition, reflection, doubt, hesitancy, action, acceptance, understanding, fulfilment and belonging. And that journey can end by shifting the perception of gender incongruity from a burden to a blessing, or even a joy.
Diana Thomas has won two national journalism awards for writing about her experiences as a trans woman.
