24/06/2026

Let’s start looking forward to the 2026 convention then!

We welcome back Garry Coles as a speaker for the 2026...

He’ll be presenting: What a Pain! - A Demonstration of Three Pain Control Techniques

Pain is a very personal thing, and it’s all in the mind! It’s the brain’s way of indicating trauma in a specific part of the body. Pain control with hypnotherapy is the most scientifically studied area within the realm of complementary therapies and has generally been shown to be of great usefulness in working with many types of pain issues.

However, in my experience, because pain perception is so personal, an approach that might work brilliantly for one person may have no effect on others. There are numerous different approaches to targeting pain hypnotically, and many more (mostly variations of traditional approaches ‘rebadged’), so the key is to find the approach most suitable for the patient in front of you.

In this presentation, I’m going to give you an introduction to my interpretation of how pain is perceived and will demonstrate three of my ‘go-to’ hypnotic approaches to assist with its relief.

Bio:
Garry is renowned as an expert in Hypno-Oncology, with over two decades of experience, working within a GP practice and hospital oncology unit and holding an MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy. In 2024, Garry was awarded ‘Medical Hypnotherapist of the Year’. Garry advises the CNHC, on hypnotherapy ethics, training, and malpractice issues. Garry is a regular global lecturer, including presenting monthly mentoring Zoom sessions. Garry has published a script book and is completing a Hypno-Oncology academic book.

Secondly today then.... Our 2026 Keynote Presenter!

As seen on BBC’s The One Show, WIRED, Ted Talks, The New Scientist and beyond, we are so excited to announce that this year’s keynote presentation on Saturday afternoon on the main stage will be Dr Alice Pailhès.

Dr Pailhès earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London, where she pioneered experimental studies on magicians’ forcing techniques — subtle methods of influencing people’s choices without their awareness.

Today, her work goes far beyond studying illusions: she translates the science of belief, agency, and perception into practical tools that leaders, innovators, and high-performers can apply to transform behaviour, drive change, and unlock human potential.

Her approach blends rigorous cognitive science with experiential methods drawn from magic, placebo effects, symbolic thinking, and ritual design. Her mission is to show how the mind’s hidden mechanisms can be consciously harnessed — not just to understand reality, but to shape it — enabling individuals and organisations to create environments, narratives, and habits that make extraordinary outcomes feel inevitable.

Full details at the convention website shortly.

It may seem as though we’ve been quiet, but lots has been going on behind the scenes as we prepare for this year’s UKHC.

The full 2026 schedule will be announced shortly - it will be our biggest and best event yet. The discount code EARLYBIRD is only available until the schedule goes live and gives a 15% discount.

I have a couple of announcements to get you excited.

Firstly... We are thrilled to welcome back the one and only Paul McKenna to the 2026 convention - he will be presenting a 90 minute workshop on the main stage on Sunday afternoon .....

Paul McKenna is going to demonstrate how three modalities work together in synergy - hypnotherapy, NLP and Havening (the new psycho-sensory technique). Not only will he explain how the combination of these three approaches is greater than the sum total of their individual parts, but he will demonstrate this as well.

Many people are familiar with hypnotherapy and NLP and how the use of language and visualisation can achieve behavioural change. Havening is a relatively new therapy, based on neuroscience , that works extremely well in treating trauma, depression, pain and anxiety, and when combined with the other two modalities, produces a super-therapy.

Full details about to be shared on the convention website.

Your mind is the magician.
I’ll show you its tricks.

"I’m Dr Alice Pailhès — a psychological scientist, magician, author, and speaker exploring how your mind constructs the reality you live in.

What if the limits you think are real… are just illusions your mind hasn’t seen through yet?

I reveal the hidden mechanisms behind decision-making, perception, belief, and how they shape your choices, your behavior, and the life you live.

By blending rigorous psychological research with the principles of illusion and wonder, I show you how our minds deceives us, and how to use those same mechanisms to transform your reality consciously.

I’m one of the few researchers in the world specialising in the psychology of magic, a field that uses magic as a scientific tool to understand how we experience the world.

Whether I’m on stage, online, or in the lab, my mission is to help you stop being a passenger of your mind and become its architect."

In Havening, the brief activation of a distressing memory combined with visualisations and sequences of repeated touch to specific parts of the body can have a rapid, reliable and predictable effect on our being.

As a result, in a matter of minutes, we can now reduce the intensity of an emotion or feeling of unhappiness and establish a calmer state that can support resilience.

In addition, certain brain waves are associated with different functions in our lives. Beta waves are associated with being alert and focussed or anxious. Alpha waves represent a state of relaxed alertness. One wave synonymous with really deep relaxation - the holy grail that we are all after in terms of therapy and healing - are delta waves. Delta waves are produced when you are deeply asleep, in meditative states, and when Havening.

Delta waves facilitate the reconfiguration of traumatic or upsetting feelings. So, when you think about a distressing experience and follow the Havening techniques, the brain is flooded with delta waves and this enables resolution by de-linking the experience at a neurological level.
