Curiosity, confidence and independent thought were on full display at The Big Ned 2026 last week.

Hosted at Alleyn's as part of the Aspiring Minds academic enrichment programme, the event brought together pupils from Alleyn's, JAGS and Dulwich College to share original ideas through a series of inspiring Ned Talks.

From exploring how language shapes reality and the politics of silence, to reflections on identity, morality and the value of talking to strangers, pupils tackled a remarkable range of thought-provoking topics with insight and conviction.

A special congratulations to all our speakers and to Deniz, Alleyn's Academic Senior Prefect, for expertly hosting the afternoon.

Events like The Big Ned showcase the power of young people to question, challenge and inspire which is exactly the spirit we nurture through our Aspiring Minds framework.

The exhibition is a powerful reminder of the value of human creativity. Every piece reflects a unique perspective, story and spark of originality.

This must-see exhibition is on display until the end of Founder’s Day on Saturday 27 June.

👏 Congratulations to all our pupils involved in the Lower School production of Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather!

Over three performances across two days, our young performers demonstrated remarkable resilience, commitment and courage as they took to the stage in this ambitious in-the-round production.

Exploring themes of identity, belonging, resilience and friendship, Hetty Feather was a wonderful showcase of the talent, determination and enthusiasm of everyone involved. From the cast on stage to the pupils working behind the scenes, every contribution helped bring this story to life.

A huge well done to all involved in a truly memorable Lower School production. 🎭✨

When we say you can find your thing at Alleyn’s, we mean it. ⚽️

This photo shows Luc de Fougerolles (Roper’s 2024) representing Alleyn’s on the football pitch back in 2021. Today, we’re incredibly proud to celebrate his latest achievement: being selected for the Canada men’s squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026!

From school football to the world stage, Luc’s journey is an inspiring reminder of where passion, talent and dedication can lead.

Congratulations, Luc!👏

Staff and pupils returned to school today to a wonderful display of spring blooms, including our school flower, the cornflower. 🌼🐝

Watching the bees enjoy these vibrant wildflowers is a simple joy and a timely reminder of the importance of spending time outdoors. With exam season now well underway, many of our pupils are spending time preparing for and sitting assessments, making regular breaks, fresh air and moments in nature more important than ever.

We wish our pupils every success as they continue through the exam season.

Our Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recipients enjoyed a memorable day at Buckingham Palace today, attending a Garden Party in recognition of their achievement and receiving their certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh.

More than 40 students and alumni were invited this year in recognition of completing their Gold Award — an exceptional achievement! 🥇 🥾

Earlier this term, audiences were treated to an evening full of energy, talent and musical flair at our annual A Lot of Hot Air & A Bit of A Scrape concert. 🎶

Showcasing the incredible talents of our woodwind, brass, string players and singers, the event featured fantastic performances from Monsterphonics, Guitar Stars, All Stars and Sax Max.

A huge congratulations to all the pupils and staff involved for such an entertaining and memorable evening of music. 👏

At Alleyn’s, learning always looks outward as well as inward. Through our partnerships programme, Alleyn’s Together, pupils connect what they learn in the classroom with the wider world, applying their knowledge with empathy, creativity and purpose.

Whether through Alleyn’s Out There, volunteering in local schools and community projects; Alleyn’s United, leading fundraising initiatives for charities both local and global; or Alleyn’s Academy and Alleyn's Connects, which provides enrichment opportunities for local children on our school site, these experiences deepen understanding, broaden perspectives, and develop the skills that underpin meaningful scholarship. 💙

Our 1619 Reading Challenge invites pupils, staff, parents and the wider Alleyn’s community to read for 1619 minutes more than they normally would between World Book Day (5 March) and 8 September.

With some friendly rounding, that’s only an extra 10 minutes a day.

Already, participants have read an incredible 116,640 extra minutes beyond their usual habits. Many have found the challenge fun, motivating and refreshingly stretching, helping them read more widely, build mindful daily routines, and even choose books over phones.

There’s still time to take part!

Need inspiration? We’ve been speaking to staff and students about their reading habits and favourite books, and you can hear more in our Aspiring Minds podcast 🎧 Link in bio.
