To our Funky Moves Family 🧡

We come baring sad news, that Funky Moves will be closing for good in the next month. We have had 20 amazing years, with thousands of parties, school clubs, private sessions, adult classes, events & festivals but it has got to a point now where we simply cannot continue into another term. 

The management team has flexed and changed over the years as we have grown. Alice, who founded the company 20 years ago and has since focused on raising her beautiful family, Holly has moved to Australia, and has just welcomed her second baby girl to the family, Lara started the very first veggie café in the area with her hubby (THRILLED to say this is down the road from me) and I (Jess) moved out of London with my husband and we have since started our own wellness and events business and are expecting our first little one in November. 

So suffice to say that the OG management team are all very happy and have loved every minute of working for Funky Moves. It’s the end of an era... but my goodness wasn’t it an epic era!!

Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years. Whether you have been a regular Funky Moves family member or have dipped in and out, we appreciate every single one of you. We really could not have made it this far without you. 

We really hope that the good memories you and your kids have of Funky Moves lives on.

20 YEARS OF FUNKY MOVES!! 🥳🥳🥳

You read that correctly, today marks our 20th birthday and what a time we have had so far!🙌🙌🙌

Looking through the archives it’s amazing to see how far we have come, how many teachers have joined the family then gone on to create their own dance careers or started a family of their own 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

We hope all the kids we have taught over the years still know how amazing they are and maybe (we hope) they are still dancing in some way or another 🤞🤞🤞

We have had some very high highs and some very low lows and of course challenges continue to come our way after Covid changed the world, but as long as there are kids that want to dance, we will be here. 🧡🧡🧡

To our directors, management team, teachers, parents, kids and schools… WE LOVE YOU ALL

WELCOME SINÉAD 🙌🙌🙌

We are thrilled to announce that Sinéad is the newest member of the Funky Moves family and will be offering a multitude of styles of dance including Musical Theatre and Ballet as well as street dance! 👍🏼👌🏼

Originally for Ireland she has just recently finished a 2 year stint in Mama Mia on the West End and has tones of experience teaching a range of ages from 3-12 years.✨

As we wind down this week ready for the holidays we just wanted to say a HUGE thank you and Merry Christmas to all the kids and families who danced with us this year! 🙌🙌🙌

Hundreds of parties, school clubs and private classes and we have loved every single one🥳👌⭐️

… and this one is to our Lara-lou 😍

Lara started working for FM & 8 years ago… we vividly remember the first job she ever joined us on and it was assisting us at our Balham Holiday course at the Bedford. We knew INSTANTLY that she was one of the family even before we had seen her in action.

She very quickly moved up the ranks becoming one of our top teachers before coming on the management team to be queen of teacher training, HR, socials and much more.

This month marks a sad but in the same breath VERY exciting time. Lara and her wonderhubby Simon have taken over a gorgeous little cafe in Thame (head over to their insta to follow their journey!) and we couldn’t be happier for them both. It’s been a dream of theirs for a long time and to watch it finally start to unfold, brings us so much joy we could just burst into a cloud of glitter.

You will be sure that if you call, email or message us from October onwards we will be pretty much living at Kali Café and if anyone is in the area, drop in for a hug 🤗

Lara we love you have been a shining light in so many teachers’, kids’ and parents’ lives, so shine on beautiful one!!

Wow have your funksters been awesome! There’s been dancing, arts & crafts, games, breaking, performances, makeovers, more games and all the fun!

We pack as much variety as we can into our holiday courses to keep your funksters entertained and it's always a joy to see it come off. None of it would work without their gorgeous spirits and infectious energy so it's a testament to themselves as much as our awesome teachers that it was such a success 💫
