✨ What is Special Time?
Special Time is a short period of uninterrupted one-to-one time with your child, where they choose the activity and you follow their lead. It’s not about teaching, testing, or correcting, it’s about connecting and creating opportunities for communication.
💛 Usually just 5–10 minutes🎲 Your child chooses the activity👂 You tune in and follow their interests💬 Comment more and question less📱 Minimise distractions and enjoy being together
By slowing down and joining in with what your child enjoys, you can support their communication, confidence, and connection in a relaxed and playful way.

We’re all set up and ready to welcome visitors at the Empowering Parents Together event in the London Borough of Redbridge today!
It’s great to be here alongside so many fantastic organisations, meeting parents, carers, and professionals from across the local community.
Redbridge holds a special place in our history as a business; it’s where we secured some of our first contracts with - with Emily Kirchin, one of our Managing Directors, working in a local nursery and delivering outreach into primary schools across the borough between 2013 and 2018.
If you’re attending the event, come and say hello to Emily and Natalia Wykes. They’d love to meet you, answer your questions, and tell you more about what we do and how our services can support local families.

Five simple ways to support pupils who stammer in the classroom 💙
Stammering is a natural variation in how speech is produced. It's not about effort, intelligence, or ability – it's simply a different way of speaking. But classroom environments, with all their pace and pressure, can make speaking feel especially challenging for children who stammer.
The good news? Small, everyday changes from the adults around them can make a huge difference.
Swipe through for 5 simple, practical strategies to help every pupil who stammers feel heard, included, and confident in your classroom!
Save this post for later, and share it with a colleague who'd find it helpful.

If you've ever wondered whether your child might need a little extra support with their speech or language – that wondering is worth listening to 💛
Speech and Language Therapy can help children find their words, build their confidence, and feel more at ease in everyday moments – whether that's chatting at home, playing with friends, or settling into nursery and school. And the earlier we step in, the bigger the difference.
At London Speech Therapy, you can refer your child directly. Just a quick enquiry form, and one of our therapists or admin team will be in touch to talk through the next steps with you. Early support really does start with a conversation and we'd love to have that conversation with you.

💛 June is Aphasia Awareness Month.
Aphasia is an acquired language disorder that affects how a person speaks, understands, reads, and writes, most commonly caused by stroke or brain injury.
Around 350,000 people in the UK are living with aphasia today, yet it's one of the least understood communication conditions.
Most importantly: aphasia affects language, not intelligence. The person you know is still very much there.
Swipe through to learn more about aphasia and how the right specialist support can help!
