MEET THE FACULTY 👋 We are pleased to introduce you the facilitators of the Decolonising Yoga module, Ruth Westoby and Eunice Laurel.
Eunice is a yoga facilitator, teacher-trainer and mentor with two decades of work experience in yoga settings. Alongside her role as a yoga educator, yoga outreach and community-based support is at the core of her work, having worked with NGOs abroad, London-based charities, and in private practice. In 2017, she founded Movement for Healing (MFH), a programme that brings trauma-informed yoga into organisations that support people impacted by domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Dr Ruth Westoby is a researcher in yoga and Asian Religions and a yoga practitioner. Ruth is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Jaina Studies at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies with a focus on technologies of the body. In addition, Ruth is an Associate Researcher at Inform, based at King’s College London, researching menstruation in contemporary religions. Ruth holds a PhD from SOAS University of London on ‘The Body in Early Haṭha Yoga’ (2024), supervised by Professor James Mallinson and Dr Richard Williams, funded by CHASE-AHRC and awarded without corrections. Ruth is currently working on a book project from her doctoral thesis ‘Reversing Reproduction in Haṭha Yoga’. Her research focuses on the materiality of the body, (non-)reproduction and sexuality from critical theoretical and medical humanities perspectives.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT 📣
Our own graduate Dr. Mouse is joining the HYS Team and will be leading our Anatomy Modules.
Mouse has been with us since the start and did our very first 200 training, and we couldn’t be more excited. Read her bio to learn some and send her some love ❤️ 🧡 Next 200 Hour Starts March, 2026! DM for more info.
Mouse is a yoga teacher and doctor. She discovered yoga whilst studying at medical school in Nottingham and has remained dedicated to her practice throughout the seasons of her life that followed. She discovered a love of vinyasa and ashtanga in Nottingham and then of rocket style practices and handstands after moving to London.
Mouse became a yoga teacher in 2021 after training with High Yoga School and has subsequently trained in yin, Rocket and handstands and has recently returned from her 300 hour intensive with HYS. Her classes are educational and playful and she strives to help her students understand their own bodies and practice.
Alongside her yoga practice, Mouse is doctor working in the NHS. She also has a committed voluntary focus and has an interest in supporting vulnerable and disabled children and refugee health. She has taught yoga in all of these settings as well as studio classes. Her medical practice and yoga teaching have remained intertwined and inform her anatomical approach to asana teaching.

Huge congratulations to these incredible teachers who’ve just completed a major portion of their 300-hour training with HSY!
They spent 25 beautiful days in Indonesia with us on a small, sleepy island — courageously turning inward, deepening their practice, and strengthening their connection to themselves and each other.
Now we move forward into the final three modules — one step closer to graduation! 🎓
We’re (just barely) emerging from our social media silence, so expect some photo-dumping soon 😄 — and keep an eye on your inbox for our upcoming newsletter!
With love,
The HYS Team 🇮🇩

Happy Birthday to this incredibly special human. What a privilege it is to have you in our lives, and to be able to be together in this beautiful place — in this both very ordinary and yet extraordinary moment of Bāhya Kumbhaka, this evening of suspension, before our next big inhale as HYS — celebrating you. You are so loved and treasured. Parabéns!

200-hour Foundation Teacher Training, Spring 2026 🌸
The 200-hour training is the cornerstone of our school. It offers a thorough foundation in asana, pranayama, mantra, meditation, anatomy, philosophy, and teaching methodology. Over weekend modules, students are guided through an in-depth exploration of yoga practice and traditions while developing the skills and confidence to share what they learn. Whether your aim is to teach or simply to deepen your personal study, this programme is designed to support both paths.
🧑🏫 We are fortunate to have an experienced faculty who hold space with clarity and care, and our approach is both rigorous and supportive. Places are already being filled, and we continue to offer scholarships and payment plans to make the training more accessible.
💰 The tuition is £3,300. Early bird price which ends January 4th, 2026, is £3,100. We offer payment plans and scholarships. Click here for more information on tuition, payment plans, and policies.
📚 Further information about the 200-hour course can be found on our website via link in bio, or get in touch with us directly via DM or email us at [email protected].

Calling all Pincha lovers (and Pincha-curious friends!) 🦚
Another one of our wonderful teachers, Mags, known for her thoughtful teaching and deep love for the practice, is holding space for a Pincha Mayurasana workshop — a gentle deep dive into the world of forearm balance, also known as Feathered Peacock Pose.
This extended 2-hour class is open to all levels. Whether you’re just beginning to explore Pincha or have been working on it for a while, Mags will meet you right where you are.
Expect to:
✨ Build strong, intelligent foundations
🦴 Prepare the shoulders, wrists, core and legs
🌬 Learn to use the breath to support balance
🧘♀️ Explore the subtle practices of patience, consistency and courage
This is more than just a posture clinic. It’s a chance to slow down, connect with yourself and embrace the wobbly, wonderful journey to Pincha.
A regular asana practice is recommended, but you don’t need to have pincha in your toolkit yet.
🗓️ Saturday, September 27, 1-3pm
📍Mudra Yoga, 2 Shelford Pl, N16 9HS
She can’t wait to see you on the mat — and maybe upside down!

Our 300-hour manuals have arrived, and we’re sending them out to our very first 300-hour cohort! 🎉
This project is the reason Christian and I have been a little anti-social (😂) and so quiet on here for the past six months. Our 300-hour training in Indonesia begins in less than a month—on the very same island I lived on before moving to London in 2015. Even more special: we’ll be practicing in the shala where I practiced daily during that time.
To say we’re excited is an understatement. What makes it even more meaningful is the incredible group of established teachers and dedicated practitioners who are joining us. We are so grateful for the growth of this community—but even more so for the genuine connections we’ve built along the way.
With love, Mona ♥️
