Accelerate is a free student-led STEM initiative focusing on mentoring students with the knowledge and resources to succeed on their university journey and career paths. Our aim is to provide useful resources, tips and 1-1 mentoring on STEM related subjects to predominantly (but not limiting to) BAME students. The scheme targets students applying for university, as well as university students looking to improve employability and land an internship or full-time job.

Our main offerings are a 1-1 mentorship scheme and a resource bank. The mentorship scheme gives students the opportunity to have regular meetings with a suitable mentor in their field of interest - the scheme will begin on the 14th of September and last until the 30th of November. Our resource bank is a collection of cover letters, competency questions, personal statements and CV templates used by mentors themselves to land university offers, internships and jobs. This scheme is a highly valuable opportunity, especially during the recruitment period!

This we're celebrating kindness and good deeds.

At My Kinda Future our wonderful colleague Nicky has been busy making laundry bags and gowns for the in her spare time. Many sewers have come together to make a variety of things for frontline health workers - alongside scrubs and gowns, headbands, tabards, masks and even toys for the children's ward, have been crafted from donated linen, washed and turned into something amazing.

"Kindness certainly matters and such a good feeling to be able to help and give - whatever it is or however small" says Nicky.
