Lewisham College

As part of Refugee Week, our Pre-Entry ESOL Young Learners took part in a meaningful art project in partnership with the Royal Maritime Museum Greenwich.

Led by Michelle Butcher, learners explored the theme of courage through a collection of creative and thought-provoking artworks. Their work is now on display at the Queen’s House from 17–21 June.

The project provided an opportunity for learners to express themselves, share their perspectives and celebrate their creativity through art. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and were delighted to see them receive certificates in recognition of their hard work.

Congratulations to all the learners involved and thank you to the Royal Maritime Museum Greenwich for supporting this inspiring project.

We were proud to host our 2026 Student Awards, recognising the outstanding accomplishments of our learners. With inspiring live performances and a full Breakspears Hall, it was a fantastic evening celebrating success across our college community.

We were delighted to welcome Dame Ruth Silver back to Lewisham College this week.

Returning to the college she led as Principal from 1992–2009, Dame Ruth spent time reflecting on Lewisham College's journey, its impact on generations of learners and the importance of further education in shaping futures.

Thank you, Dame Ruth, for visiting us and sharing your memories, insights and continued passion for education.

Our Level 2 Performing Arts learners took to the stage for their final major performance, Under the Surface, exploring what lies beneath and the pressures young people can face today.
Performed to a full house at our Tressillian Theatre, it was fantastic to see so many parents, families and stakeholders there to support.
An incredible effort from our learners, ending in a thoroughly deserved standing ovation 👏

We’re incredibly proud of the adult jobseekers who recently completed their Sector-based Work Academy Programme (SWAP), gaining the skills to become exam officers and invigilators.

Our participants have already progressed into employment with our colleagues at Lewisham and Southwark colleges 👏
