Yes this happens to me too! When you get tangles, when your needle is caught in the bobbin area, DO not pull. Take the stitch plate off, cut the bobbin threads, remove the bobbin, remove all the extra threads, check whether the bobbin case has sustained damage from the needle. Reseat your bobbin case. Rethread everything and only then can you start sewing again!

Sad sewing machine had taken a real battering. But I fixed it and now it is purring again!

In beautiful Porto and finally time to share a little business update. Bookings are still about 80% down on last year. But I’ve been offered a few interesting jobs from August onwards and I’ve been commissioned to make another William Morris style quilt as well as a memory baby quilt so I think I’ll be ok. June is hard still but am making do with some sewing machine repairs, cat feeding, a quilt repair. I’ll keep on keeping my head down and not booking gigs/ meals out/ jaunties into central london and hopefully I’ll drag my way through July and then the new things will happen. A massive shift in what I’m doing and the teaching loos like it will take a backseat but I’m not going to have to go and get a full time actual job so cheekyhandmades will live. If you have anything you want me to repair or make next week or in July/ august pls do get in touch as it all helps keep the wolves from the door! Tx to everyone who has sent me job offers/ links/ ideas 😘
