Sadly due to illness I have had to cancel our summer Forest School sessions.
It’s been a very difficult decision but a necessary one to ensure that I can hopefully recover quicker and be back in the woods with you all very soon.
I am sorry for an disappointment and wish you all a lovely summer break.
Very best wishes

At Forest School children are able to meet all of their play urges. Commonly play urges (schemas) are very much part of toddler play. They are what children do instinctively to make sense of the world, one action at a time.
The outdoors offers unlimited opportunities for play urges and subsequent cognitive development.
This week kicks off the start of our new term. We will have the ropes out to enable more schemas to take place…connecting, transporting, creating play structures for orientating and more.
So why not book on and join us for lots of play with purpose.

We celebrated May Day with a nod to the old folk tradition of the ‘Obby ‘Oss.
The children used tools to saw sticks, stuffed an old sock with newspaper and then decorated their ‘obbys’ with some impressive manes.
💚We’re so excited to be part of this amazing new festival taking place in Carshalton this June. We’ll be running a workshop in the grounds of The Ecology Centre on Sunday 12th June💚
Hope you can make it!

We enjoyed lots of spring activity this
Easter break ☀️🐣🦋🐝
We met the worlds rarest bird who happened to have stopped off at our Forest School site to lay her very special eggs. Unfortunately the wind had blown them all away so we carefully hunted for them until all 28 had been found!
We then made our own special eggs to take home.
The follow day, children…and parents, learnt about using tools safely and then together, using their imagination, some wonderful spring creatures were created…oh and rudolf!
We will be running more sessions for all ages during the summer holidays. Email us at [email protected] if you would like to be added to our mailing list to find out more 😊

We had such a busy spring term. We’ve enjoyed watching the woods transform from winter buds and bare branches, to bursts of new leaves and spring blossom.
Each week the children have had the opportunity to experience new skills and activities as well as plenty of opportunity to repeat the same things if that’s where their interests lie. We’ve been minibeast hunting, sawing, hammering, foraging, fire building, whittling and much more.
We’re looking forward to being back in the woods for more fun and adventures this summer term 😊

A catch up post of all the fun activities our Wildlings have been up to this winter.
Unlike all the trees and animals who slowed down to conserve their energy, we have been busy in the woods playing, creating, exploring and using up lots of energy.
Our Forest School children have enjoyed fires and campfire cooking while our Friday Nature group have been finding out all about the plants and animals in our woods through stories and crafts.
Last week we had lots of fun with some of our older wildlings who came along during half term. The children used the tools to create wood crafts, we cooked pancakes on the fire and as the woods grew dark we made our own shadow puppet theatre.
We have plenty of sessions coming up so why not join us this Spring. Bookings are available for all our activities via bookwhen.com/wildlingsforestschool
Happy New Year to all our Wildlings Families!
(It’s a slightly belated one as Covid took hold)
Before we focus on our events for the year ahead, I just wanted to look back to last year…
It started off so differently to how we normally operate here at Wildlings, as I’m sure it did for so many others. Somehow though it felt like this had a knock on effect for the rest of 2021, and last year felt particularly difficult. Through it all though, it was the continued support from our wonderful wildlings families, and volunteers that kept us going. I wanted to say a very special thank you to each and everyone of you who joined us last year. Your support means the world and is what enables us to keep going 💚
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back this year. Watch this space for details of all our upcoming sessions, and if you are on our mailing you will be receiving the booking details very soon.
Here’s to a fab 2022! 🦋
