Welcome to Slanguage School! This week's word: 'Stabil'
"Stabil" is used in German slang to describe something that is really good, impressive, or just gives off solid vibes.
It originally comes from “stable” in the sense of not breaking or falling apart, but in everyday language it became a way to rate things positively. It can refer to actions, situations, people, or even moods. Anything that feels strong or smooth.
Example:
A: I actually finished all my work before the deadline.
B: Stabil.
Or
A: Stabiles Outfit!
B: Thank you! The skirt is new.
If you're a young learner, we have specially-tailored courses and supports on offer, which are a great way to build your skills and confidence in German. Check out when our next round of courses begins at the link below. 🔗

We’re excited that in just a few days, the Factory International x EUNIC Creative Producers Programme kicks off in Manchester. This collaborative initiative between the two organisations is designed to strengthen cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration between Europe and the UK.
We are thrilled that Anna von Glasenapp will join eleven other creative producers from across Europe, alongside one Manchester-based producer for a five-day residency. Together, they will gather in Manchester to take part in a dynamic programme of networking, performances, and learning activities at Aviva Studios and across the city.
Anna von Glasenapp is a Berlin-based dramaturg and creative producer whose work spans performance, theatre and interdisciplinary art, with a focus on collaborative and experimental formats.
Bringing together a dynamic cohort from across Europe, the programme fosters international exchange, collaboration and peer learning among cultural professionals.
The project was awarded the EU National Institutes for Culture and is also supported by European Union in the UK

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting "From Exchange to Change: An Evening of Dialogue, Impact and Connection" together with the Friends of the Goethe-Institut UK. We were especially honoured to welcome the German Ambassador to the UK, Susanne Baumann, whose presence highlighted the importance of intercultural dialogue and youth exchange.
The evening celebrated the remarkable impact of Exchange2Change, the Goethe-Institut London’s flagship youth mobility programme, made possible through the Friends’ generous and longstanding support.
Powerful stories from former participants and inspiring conversations throughout the night showed how exchange fosters understanding, confidence and lasting friendships between young people in the UK and Germany. The Friends of the Goethe-Institut UK continue to demonstrate how vital corporate and stakeholder support is to our mission.

Welcome to Slanguage School: This week's word: 'Hau rein!'
This phrase has no direct translation, but if you translate each word, it means "hit into it". It's commonly used in casual situations among friends and has a few different meanings depending on the context.
Mostly it's a casual way to say goodbye. But it can also mean "go for it" when encouraging someone to start eating. 🍽️
Example:
A: "Alright, I'm heading home now."
B: "Hau rein!" 👋
