Sing for a Change! is a community choir based in Hoxton who not only want to sing about change but who work together to make change happen.

is a brand new community choir based in Hoxton using the power of music to transform society! Working with Citizens UK (www.citizensuk.org) we plan to be more than just a community choir or a political choir but a choir that takes action. Using community organising methodology I’m hoping to not only create a community who love to sing but also a community with the power to make a change. We will b

'Glory (Let There Be Peace)" by Matt Maher 29/09/2020

It is with a very heavy heart that I've decided to stop running the choir for the time being. COVID has taken its toll and it seems impossible to find a way to continue that keeps everyone feeling comfortable and safe singing together not to mention the financial side of things. I'm hoping it's not the end and we'll be back sometime next year but I'm not making any promises right now.

This page will stay active and do head over to our YouTube channel and check out some of our favourite songs - here's an uplifting one from last Christmas when singing together, all standing next to each other, children, adults, everyone singing in harmony was something we took for granted! Let there be peace - let it start with me!

The guidance and the research have been read, the risk assessment has been written and so Choir is BACK tonight with a socially-distanced, outdoors, under the stars and the trees rehearsal - thank goodness we're having a September heat wave!! I can't wait to hear voices singing again in harmony!!

Lockdown Virtual Choir "I'm Gonna Lift My Sister Up" 17/06/2020

We made a lockdown virtual choir video!

It’s pretty low-tech and pushed people out of their comfort zones recording themselves singing on their own and being brave enough to send it to me! I’m so proud of them 😍

This is not the whole choir & we’re missing everyone else who has struggled to join in with sessions on zoom... but this video reminds us of the times when we were together, singing for change and also shows support & solidarity in these difficult times. 🎶❤️✊🏼

Apologies for being a bit quiet on here lately. Obviously choir rehearsals are currently cancelled but a few of us met up on Wednesday evening for a catch up on zoom, we did a little bit of singing and there was some much needed hilarity! It's been wonderful to see all the excited and innovative online choir initiatives popping up and I'm encouraging members to join in with others where they can. These are difficult times but times where singing together, somehow or other, is much needed - so keep singing everyone!!

Choir is back this Wednesday 15th January 7.30pm at St John's Hoxton & it's a great time for new members to join us - come along, join your voice with ours and together we can make a difference!

The Community Choir is open to everyone, no special skills required just a love of singing and a desire to use the power of music to make the world a better place. Children age 11+ are welcome to join.

Here we are performing a month ago at Carols by Candlelight singing Glory (Let There Be Peace) by Matt Maher. This is both Sing for a Change Community Choir & young friends joined by the St John the Baptist Sing for a Change Children's Choir. The actions we are doing are British Sign Language.

We had a lovely time singing at St George in the East yesterday helping to raise money for the fantastic Open Table Project. Huge thanks to the amazing Tom Daggett for not only inviting us to sing but also for accompanying us. We’ve got a packed week ahead with lots more festive singing opportunities 🎶

There will be no choir rehearsal tonight because we are off to perform at the Citizens UK London Delegates Assembly at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church - we’re thrilled to be a part of the process to identify the issues which London Citizens will be bringing to the candidates for London Mayor in next years election - we’re also very excited as we’ll be singing from a platform where Martin Luther King Jr has stood and preached ❤️🎶✊🏼This will be our view but filled with people! 👇🏻
