Year 5 & 6 visited Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre last Monday, where they enjoyed a fascinating tour of this iconic space before taking part in an engaging drama workshop. Using body language and movement, the children explored how stories can be brought to life on stage - just as they were in Shakespeare’s time.

Year 3 & 4 had an incredible day mudlarking today with !
Turning into real river detectives, they uncovered Roman pottery, animal bones and discovered glass, clay pipes, and pottery from a range of time periods, including Georgian and Victorian London.
They even learned how to date their finds - for example, spotting tiny bubbles in glass pieces means that it had been mouth-blown, a practice that dates back to the Georgian era.

The other Wednesday, we did a dance workshop at Dallington where each year did a dance choreographed by the professional dancer Francis Angol. We had lots of fun and we did different dances in each year. In year 5 and 6 we did one about the three witches in Macbeth (The Scottish play). In year 3 and 4 they focused on ‘around the world’ and did dances related to that. In year 1 and 2, they focused on ‘green London’ and did dance moves related to that. In EYFS, they did dances related to plants and animals.

A few weeks ago, Year 3 & 4 visited the Cutty Sark. They explored the historic ship, learned about life at sea, and discovered its global journeys. A great way to bring history to life through curiosity and hands-on learning. Our very own reporter Lily spent the day recording what the class experienced. Her highlights included: the captain’s room, the sails, and being on the deck!

Before the end of term, Year 5 & 6 visited the Natural History Museum for a LEGO Mars Rover workshop.
As part of their Space topic, they worked in teams to design and build their own rovers, before coding them to complete a series of challenges. They tested their designs on a simulated Martian surface, adapting and improving them along the way.
A great hands-on way to explore real-world science, engineering and problem-solving.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us for the Maths Workshop at the end of term. Milko, our Year 5&6 teacher and STEM Coordinator, led an engaging presentation, followed by hands-on maths activities, giving parents the chance to experience our approach to learning first-hand. The session ended with a tour of classrooms, where maths lessons were brought to life in real time.
At Dallington, we believe in openness and connection, giving parents meaningful insight into what and how their children are learning every day.
