🌟 This Autistic Pride Day, we're celebrating the creativity, perspectives and talents of the autistic people we work with across the UK.

🎨 At Create, we believe everyone should have access to the creative arts and the opportunity to express themselves in ways that feel true to them.

Through projects including creative:connection, changing:minds, environment:matters, More Creative and our:stories, autistic and SEND participants explore music, visual arts, creative writing and more, developing confidence, building connections and sharing their unique perspectives with the world.

Autistic Pride Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate neurodiversity, challenge stereotypes and champion environments where autistic people feel valued, included and empowered to thrive.

Thank you to our funders: Barnett Waddingham, The Boris Karloff Charitable Foundation, The February Foundation, Fowler Smith and Jones Trust, John Lyon's Charity, Newcomen Collett Foundation, Octopus Energy , and The St Paul's Schools Foundation [via The Mercers' Company].

🧠 "Perhaps the best thing we could do to prevent mental illness would be to reduce social isolation."

At our recent Create Conversations event, Dr Simon Opher reflected on the powerful role creativity can play in bringing people together.

🎨 One of the unique strengths of the arts is that people come together around a shared activity, not a shared problem. They're not defined by a diagnosis, circumstance or challenge. They're there to create.

At Create, we see this every day. Through the arts, participants build connections, develop confidence and experience a sense of belonging - and the majority of the time, they see improvements in their wellbeing. In fact, in 2025/26, 96% of our participants told us that their well being was enhanced by taking part in our programmes.

🌟 Reducing social isolation isn't just good for our mental health. It helps people thrive.

Nearly one million older people in the UK are frequently lonely, and chronic loneliness is becoming an increasingly urgent challenge for our ageing population.

For older adults living with dementia or long-term mental health conditions, loneliness and isolation can have a profound impact on wellbeing, confidence and quality of life.

In our latest blog, we explore how creativity can help.

Featuring our art music project at Chamberlain House Dementia Resource Centre, the blog highlights the power of shared creative experiences to create connection, spark memories and share moments of joy.

As one participant shared:

"Coming here, I'm not alone, like at home."

It's a powerful reminder that creativity isn't just about self-expression - it's also about belonging.

"Co-creating has to be at the heart of every element of every project."

💬 At our recent Create Conversations event, Nicky Goulder MBE shared why co-creation is central to Create's approach.

From consulting participants before a project begins to ensuring their ideas and experiences shape every session, we believe the most meaningful creative projects are built with people, not for them.

🎨 Nicky reflects on the development of Inside Change, a project supporting people in prison to build financial literacy skills through creativity. Rather than making assumptions about what participants needed, the project was shaped through conversations with people who had lived experience of the challenges it sought to address.

🌟 When participants help shape the work, their voices are heard, their experiences are valued and the outcomes are stronger.

🌟 What a fantastic day at Cheshire Young Carers ! Young carers explored their creativity as part of our inspired:arts programme.

🎨 Over the May half term, the young carers got stuck in, making paper lanterns that showcased their individuality!

🧠 This , we're highlighting the spaces where carers can explore their identities outside of their caring roles. Carers give so much of themselves every day, and so often have to put the needs of others before their own.

❤️ At Create, we aim to create spaces where carers can discover their unique creative voices, express themselves and, most importantly, have fun!

Thank you to St James's Place Charitable Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund for funding this project.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the incredible young and adult carers we have the privilege of working with across the UK. ❤️

🌟 Carers provide vital support to family members and loved ones, often balancing their caring responsibilities alongside work, education, friendships and their own wellbeing.

🎨 Through our projects, Create uses the creative arts to provide opportunities for carers to focus on themselves, connect with others and explore their creativity.

Whether it's trying animation for the first time, creating artwork alongside peers, taking part in drama workshops or sharing stories through music and writing, these projects create space for confidence, self-expression, respite and joy.

✨ This Carers Week, we want to say thank you to all carers. Your contribution is invaluable and you deserve opportunities to create, connect and thrive!

Thank you to our funders: The Chetwode Foundation, John Lyon's Charity, The Jessie Spencer Trust, Johnston Nijman Foundation, The National Lottery Community Fund , Reed Smith LLP , Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust, St James's Place Charitable Foundation, White Stuff , Worshipful Company of Coopers and Yellowcat.

Over the May half term, young carers in Bolton explored photography, animation, collage and more through inspired:arts. 🎨

For many young carers, opportunities to focus on themselves can be few and far between. Through inspired:arts, participants can try new creative activities, build confidence and connect with other young people who understand their experiences.

That sense of connection is a vital part of the programme. Spending time with peers who share similar responsibilities can help young carers feel seen, supported and less alone.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for making projects like this possible. ❤️
