A royal gift or silver forgery? 🥈
Hidden among Lincoln's Inn's silver collection is a two-handled cup said to have been presented by Charles II himself to mark the launch of a warship in 1668.
After expert examination by the V&A and leading silver scholars, the verdict is in: it's almost certainly a forgery, probably made 200 years after the date on the hallmark.

Earlier this month we held our annual Diversity Dinner, this year celebrating our LGBTQ+ members, community and allies 🏳️🌈
Guests arrived in bold, vibrant colours for an evening of connection, celebration and joy. The evening began with a drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner in the Great Hall.
During the dinner, we were entertained by the Diversity Choir and inspired by words from our LGBTQ+ Network leads, Brie Stevens-Hoare KC and Chris Loweth - before dancing into the night!

Clare Strickland, called to the Bar in 1994, is a Partner and Head of the Regulatory Group at Blake Morgan, specialising in advising and representing regulators and individuals facing regulatory action. She has particular expertise in the healthcare, legal and education sectors.
She has been an advocacy trainer at the Inn for nearly 20 years, and spent over a decade as a member of the Bar Council’s Ethics Committee and Employed Barristers’ Committee.
Clare was supported by Michele O'Leary and Professor Stephen Mayson. She said of the appointment: "I am deeply honoured to become a Bencher at Lincoln’s Inn. I have very fond memories of my first visit to the Inn as a university student in 1992. The world of the Bar was alien to me, but the Inn made me feel welcome and supported my aspiration to become a barrister. That support has continued throughout my career, for which I am very grateful. I have greatly enjoyed supporting others through advocacy training, and am now looking forward to serving the Inn as a Bencher."

in 1923, Cornelia Sorabji was Called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn.
A pioneer long before this milestone, she was the first woman to study law at Oxford University, the first woman to sit the Bachelor of Civil Laws examination there in 1892, and the first woman to practise law in both India and Britain, all before the S*x Disqualification (Removal) Act 1919 was passed.
When women finally became eligible to receive degrees at Oxford, Cornelia Sorabji returned to Britain in 1922 to collect hers, thirty years after completing the required examinations. She was also admitted to the Inn that same year, on 1 May 1922.
