As we approach Father’s Day, we’ve been reflecting on how much things have changed for dads in the very early days of parenthood.

As a society, we’re getting better at recognising that dads aren’t just there to help — they’re parents too. There’s still a long way to go, but more and more fathers are showing up, getting involved, and looking for spaces where they feel welcome alongside their babies.

At Zip Zap, we want every dad to know that you belong here.

Our classes are still predominantly attended by mums, but that is slowly changing, and we love seeing more dads joining us each week. Whether you’re on paternity leave, have a day off work, are flying solo with your little one, or simply want to spend quality time together, you’ll always be welcomed, included and supported at our classes, events and venues.

So this Father’s Day, here’s a little reminder: there is a place for you here, and we’d love to see you and your baby at Zip Zap. Book all of our classes via

There’s something truly special about the bonds our leaders build with the children that come through our doors🥰

Just look at Mollie and Baby G. These two are absolutely besotted with each other. The moment they see one another, Baby G’s little face lights up with the biggest smile — and Mollie’s does too. It’s a connection built on trust, warmth, and genuine affection, and it’s a beautiful reminder of how important these relationships are in helping children feel safe, valued, and loved.

Moments like these are what make our days so special. ❤️ photo shared with parental permission. Thank you

School Readiness?? What does that even mean?! We asked one of our Zip Zap mums, Early Years Consultant, Laura Moore-Williams for her top tips. I think her bonus tip is the more useful!! School readiness is about the whole child

Tip 1: Name recognition & writing
Recognising and writing their name builds early literacy, supports independence from day one, and helps them feel a sense of belonging in their new space

Tip 2: Self-help skills
Practise these together. When children can manage independently, their confidence grows and it removes the barrier of having to ask for help. This matters so much when they’re still getting to know a new team of adults and learning about their new environment

Tip 3: Talk about school positively
Follow their lead. Gently drip it into everyday chat rather than making it a big focus. Too much talk can build anxiety rather than excitement, and we want them walking through that door feeling safe and ready

Bonus Tip: Do the school route
Familiarity with the journey reduces the unknowns and helps the transition feel far less overwhelming - for them and for us

Every child develops at their own pace. For children with special educational needs or disabilities, the team around your child will work with your setting to put the right adaptations in place. You won’t be doing this alone.

As an Early Years Consultant, and a mum with a school-starter of my own this year, I know this season holds so much. We’ve got this! 💛 Zap Tottenham & Enfield McGinn

At Zip Zap, we very much “stay in our lane.” We sing, we dance, we entertain, and we support those all-important developmental milestones. What we don’t do is give unsolicited or unwanted parenting advice.

That said, we are often asked about common parenting worries, and one topic that comes up time and time again is “hitting.” I had my own “hitting toddler” a few years ago when my son was two, and I remember how stressful it felt. I used to feel anxious taking him to classes, constantly worrying that his behaviour was somehow a reflection on me. It wasn’t.

Looking back on that phase, we wanted to reach out to some of the women who once sat in our Zip Zap classes as parents, but who are also experts in their own fields, and ask them to share some of their top tips and professional insight.

First up is Charlotte Gregory — Certified Conscious Parenting Coach and one of the OG Zip Zap mums from our West Hampstead classes back in the day. Thank you so much, Lottie, for sharing this with us. It’s incredibly helpful, and we hope it brings some comfort and reassurance to parents going through a similar stage.

At Zip Zap, we don’t compare parenting styles… we just survive them together 😂
