Improving maternal and child health in northern Nigeria is the focus of the Maternal and Newborn Child Health programme, Nigeria MNCH2, which is funded by UK Aid from the British people. The programme aims to save over 100,000 lives and provide 6.3 million high-quality MNCH services to women and children in northern Nigeria. DPSA’s technical assistance delivered £10 million in cost efficiencies, which meant that procurement needs could be met without going over budget – another example of how we are helping aid go further in . Just back from three days in Oslo with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition. 7 million people die each year as a result of air pollution - 50% as a result of indoor stoves. Tackling air pollution can save lives AND address climate change - so expect to hear much more about it this year in the run up to Paris.
