ChiChi is getting swole 🏋️‍♀ Notice ChiChi has put on a little weight? It is normal for mink and other fur-bearing animals to look fluffier during the cold, winter months. This is due to a bit of weight gain as well as the thickening of their undercoats. There are certain genes that "switch on" once the days start getting shorter and the cool air of fall/winter starts to roll in. These genes work to slow down the mink's metabolism and activity levels, causing a bit of weight gain that will actually help to keep them warm for the winter. Other genes also initiate the thickening of the underfur which helps to insulate mink.
