Whose City? New work on London, housing & inequality

Join us for this important event, with six dynamic and accessible presentations linked to a series of important new books on London and city life today. We will hear about the over-bearing influence of London, the massive inequalities at the heart of everyday local life in the city, the disaster at Grenfell Tower, new analysis of the five pillars of the welfare state, the destruction of social housing estates, and the capture of the city by the super-rich.

Eila Campbell Memorial Lecture The Department of Geography at Birkbeck hosts a biennial public lecture in memory of Eila Campbell.

Prospective postgraduate research students in SSHP interested in applying for AHRC CHASE or ESRC UBEL funding, please join us for an online funding briefing session, 6 - 7pm on Thursday 04 November 2021.

The event aims to explain the different funding schemes and application process, with info about general PhD funding support.
