Macat has been engrossed in a groundbreaking book this week after the arrival of In An Ideal Business penned by our friend Santiago Iniguez president of Madrid's prestigious IE University
The new title offers an intellectual pathway between the ideas of 10 great female philosophers and contemporary business leadership. Our founder & CEO Salah Khalil found himself drawn to the chapter on Holocaust survivor Hannah Arendt who thought about how ordinary people become actors in totalitarian systems. She coined the phrase "the banality of evil”.
Salah said: “It’s about the nature of evil and how critical thinking can confront it both in society and the workplace. I’m a big fan of Hannah’s seminal work The Human Condition, which is one of many titles analysed in the Macat critical thinking library. This book really is a must read for all professionals, teachers and learners who want to enhance their practice with good thinking. Thank you Santiago!

Macat has been reflecting on its Scottish school roots in the Times newspaper this week while firming up its future with meetings across Europe.
But now it’s back to thinking well with family and friends in time for the weekend.

We're always so excited to see our critical thinking model in action. 7 Egyptian test centres are currently using our PACIER tools to assess students applying to university.

Macat has recently delivered over 20,000 critical thinking assessments in conjunction with the country's Ministry of Higher Education.

Crucially, the tests give universities a chance to assess critical thinking at entry level. Why is this so important? Because it's commonly accepted that universities are not preparing students for the work place and critical thinking is the top skill set that employers are now asking for.

We'd love to show off a sample question but that would be cheating so we'll simply end by saying: "Good luck everyone!" Critical thinking makes all the difference.

Human minds versus machines: who will win the battle of the century?
Macat founder and CEO Salah Khalil recently addressed educationalists and politicians at the Eurasian Media Forum .org in Kazakhstan. He told the audience: “The biggest risk for humans today is that they will be replaced by machines. We have to understand what skills are needed to prevent this. We should focus on critical thinking. If it gets integrated into the educational landscape, the workforce, and becomes a skill, it will lead us to the future.”
