How incredible is this!

Amazing news! Cervical cancer deaths in younger women have plummeted in England following the rollout of the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine, according to new research, published today in The Lancet.

Between 2020 and 2024, there were no deaths from cervical cancer in women aged 20-24 in England for the first time. HPV vaccine coverage in this group was close to 90%, and the vaccine was offered at age 12-13.

Our research helped prove the link between HPV and cervical cancer, and led to the development of the HPV vaccine. The vaccination programme in England has been shown to reduce cervical cancer incidence rates by up to 90%. It’s also important that women consider taking up cervical screening when invited, even if they've had the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine and cervical screening combined is the best way to prevent cervical cancer.

Until now, it’s not been possible to show directly that HPV vaccination reduces cervical cancer deaths. With vaccinated generations now reaching adulthood, this study provides the strongest national evidence to date that the vaccine is saving lives.

We’ve just come away from another of the The Francis Crick Institute A Question of Science podcast with Professor Brian Cox and a fascinating panel of Professors, Doctors, Researchers & chief CEO of the Crick.
The subject was ‘How does biological s*x affect health’.

You would not believe how backward this world is when it comes to studies on female responses to medications, and a whole host of female related illnesses.

Nearly all funding goes to research on Men and illnesses that mainly affect men. Barely anything goes to female conditions, and it seems that even in the world of medicine, us ladies are considered inferior and not worth investing in.

It’s quite scandalous and shameful that we live in a world where we will likely never be equal to men!! But this has shocked me.

Professor Brian Cox was equally shocked at the statistics, as was Andy Down, aAndy Downisn’t he wouldn’t dare tell me 😆

We spent yesterday at ChoirBlast Festival in Godalming. It’s difficult to explain quite how lovely this event is, so you really just need to get there next year.

Over 100 choirs performing on some fantastic stages. There is so much talent, positivity, enthusiasm, amazing music, beautiful harmonies, laughter, love and occasional tears when emotions run high.

The organisation is nothing short of incredible, and so many volunteers helping to make this beautiful festival what it is, an absolute pleasure to be part of. So inclusive and inspiring.
Thank you to Phoebe and your incredible team for another day full of fabulous memories. 🙏🧡🎶
