It’s Labor Day in the States, but here in London the students have their first day of class. We spent the afternoon doing a scavenger hunt that took us across central London. And tonight we’re seeing Burlesque, the musical. Can’t wait!

The London students were treated to an end of the semester dinner by alums Zach Uttich (Class of ‘07 and a Millikin trustee) and his wife Kirsten (Class of ‘07).
It was such a great way to start the last two weeks of the semester. Thanks, Zach and Kirsten!!!

The students wrapped up their program at Shakespeare’s Globe tonight with their presentation of a cutting of Richard III.

The students have arrived in London!
Each fall we send a group of Millikin students to study abroad in one of the world’s great cities. They take class with a London-based adjunct professor, they get the opportunity to act onstage and take class at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, see dozens of shows around London and the UK, and have four-day weekends each week to wander and explore this amazing city and the rest of Europe.
Much thanks to Fabio, our amazing property manager, for the tour of our Earl’s Court neighborhood!

We also visited Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and attended the Royal Shakespeare Company, where we got a tour of their facilities and saw Richard III and All’s Well that Ends Well.
Kaelana even learned how to punt on the river Avon!

Another amazing thing about the London Semester is all the AMAZING art we got to see!
As a class, we visited the following museums:
-The British Museum
-The Victoria & Albert Museum
-The Museum of Natural History
-The Churchill War Rooms
-The Imperial War Museum
-The Tate Britain
-The Tate Modern
-The Tower of London
-The National Gallery
But students, on their travels, also visited museums in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Spain, and Hungary, among others.

One of the many amazing things we did last semester was attend the Fall Equinox Ceremony at Stonehenge. A bus picked us up near the student residence at 4am, drove us out to Salisbury Plain, and we got to go inside the stone circle to experience the sunrise on the equinox, complete with ritual ceremony lead by a modern-day Druid.
