A concert to remember! Volume up 📣📣

Video 1: Sacred Heart Schola Cantorum perform Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Kensington Sinfonia 💙

Video 2: Our Head of Music, Kris Swain (first flute) and music teacher, Megan Jones (second flute) lead the Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.4 (Movements 2 & 3) ✨

Video 3: Soprano Katherine Gregory performs Handel’s Let the Bright Seraphim with Eloise Yates (trumpet) and the Kensington Sinfonia 🎵

We are so incredibly proud of our young musicians who conquered a truly intimidating piece of music and performed for almost 200 people in our school chapel. That first ‘Gloria!’ sent shivers down every spine in the room!

Thank you to the incredible professional musicians who made last Friday a night to remember! See our last post for photos from the night as well as our fundraising total 📸

Swipe to see our incredible fundraising concert on Friday evening 👉👉

Our chapel and cloister garden were filled to the brim as almost 200 guests gathered for our Baroque Feast in support of the restoration of our rare Loret pipe-organ, rescued from France by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1904.

The night was full of musical highlights 🎶 videos of the performances are in our next post, go take a look!

One of the most memorable moments was the standing ovation from the audience, including the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham and MP Andy Slaughter, as our Schola and professional musicians performed Vivaldi’s Gloria.

We were also honoured by kind words from the Archbishop of Westminster about the significance of this project, swipe to read 💬

After the concert, guests and musicians enjoyed canapés and drinks in the cloister garden in the lovely evening weather, with alumnae reconnecting and students capturing memories on their digital cameras.

What an incredible achievement, and we are so grateful to Martin Hall for his time and expertise, to Kris Swain and Megan Jones for leading the Schola and for their own beautiful performances, and to everyone in our community who helped make the evening so special.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised just under £2,000, bringing our organ fund total to £82,755. How incredible!

We were privileged to welcome alongside Salih Abdel Mageed Eldouma, Executive Director of the NGO SOS Sudan. Together, they spoke to our Year 10 and Year 12 students about the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Since civil war broke out in 2023, Sudan has become the site of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Over 33 million people, are now in urgent need of medical care, food and shelter, and the conflict shows no sign of ending.

Salih explained to students how almost 70% of school-aged children are currently out of education, because they are forced to work to help their families afford basic necessities.

CAFOD has been working in partnership with SOS Sudan to deliver vital humanitarian aid. In 2024 alone, they supported over 116,000 people, providing medical supplies, food, clean water and hygiene kits to those in need.

This is a powerful reminder that our community has a responsiblilty to take meaningful action in response to human suffering. Our Kairos student leaders have started planning fundraising initiatives to support CAFOD’s work in Sudan.

Today is the Feast of St Madeleine Sophie Barat, founder of the Society of the Sacred Heart.

Growing up during the French Revolution, Madeleine Sophie experienced a world marked by fear and uncertainty. But was certain that women’s education would help shape a better future for all.

This belief lives on in a global network of schools and an international community founded on love, respect, and faith.

St Madeleine Sophie’s legacy continues to shape our school today. We encourage our students to be thoughtful and resilient, to stand up for what they believe in, and to make a positive difference in the world 🤲💙

New event alert! 🔔

We’re delighted to be part of the world’s largest annual architecture festival, 2026. Our talk and tour will explore how our Grade II* historic site has become a place of belonging through centuries of lived experience. We’ll also share how a carefully considered heritage restoration approach is helping to preserve it for future generations 🌱

This event brings together highlights from our much-loved historical evenings, ‘The Nunnery at Hammersmith’ and ‘The Story of the Sacred Heart Organ’, with a fresh look at how our buildings and surrounding architecture continue to shape our experience today.

With late June sunshine (we hope!), guests will also be able to wander around our site, including our beautiful cloister garden 🌷🌷

Tickets are available via the link in our bio and on the LFA website. We’d love to see you there!

Met Police Schools’ Liaison Officer Constable Gemma, spoke to our Year 8 today about knife crime in London.

The session explored current statistics, shared real-life experiences of young people, and addressed ongoing discussions around measures such as stop and search in efforts to tackle knife crime in the local area.

Students learnt about the law, how to assess risk, and, most importantly, how to keep themselves and one another safe.

A trip to the Roman Baths 🏛️

A group of our younger pupils joined our A Level Classics students for a day in Bath, exploring Roman-British history and the remarkable complex built around natural hot springs nearly 2,000 years ago. A fascinating opportunity to see ancient history brought to life!
