Morning Rituals

Set your intention for the day from the outset. Control your morning and the day will conspire to help you achieve your goals. Proactive, not reactive.

1. Wake up early, 6am gives you a head start on the day
2. Read something, positive, informative, educational or spiritual for 20-30mins
3. State the three things for which you are most grateful, (something new everyday, switch it up)
4. Exercise (45-1hr). Gym, running, swimming, yoga, cycling or whatever floats your boat
5. Meditate or deep breathing practice, clear the mind. Use it to punctuate the beginning of your productive day
6. Set your intentions for the day in your journal. Do this prior to being reactive to other peoples intentions ie your email inbox
7. Smile

Feel free to change the steps to whatever suits you. Above all else, you’ve got this, you’re gonna smash the week!

Two Statements, both true.

Let Karma do the work. The system of cause and effect is as old as the hills. There is something quite calming about leaving the universe to cast judgement.

Let Karma. Do the Work. This statement means, let Karma just be, but do the work to weight it in your favour. This intricate system works in your favour if you continuously build up capital of virtue. There is rarely instant gratification with this system, so do not do a task for praise and reward, do it because you want to. Helping others and engaging with your community is rewarding in itself.

Even if your are not naturally a spiritual person, it is easy to see how Karma works in a physical, earthly sense. You treat people with respect, good grace and kindness, you feel good inside. People are attracted to genuinely loving and engaging people.

Make a conscious decision not to drain the energy of a group with negativity . Be the one that lights up a room, with good vibrations

I walked past Rudyard Kipling’s property last week, on Villiers Street. His poem, If is something I use to keep my feet firmly on the ground and my aspirations high.

IF - by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

An open mind is a powerful tool. Be open to change and opportunities that may come your way. An enriched mind is open to new people, places, concepts and activities. Our minds are wired with shortcuts to process information efficiently. We’ve all stereotyped and have experienced various cognitive bias at some point. 99% of our worries do not come to fruition. How many times has worrying solved a problem? Better to be present and mindful, notice new things and you’ll find innovative solutions to your conundrums. Believe it or not this is far less stressful than letting your brain work through all of the biased variables. Best to embrace and interact with the new, rather be in a constant state of panic, think for yourself. Be inquisitive, be engaging, do not accept the norm.

This weekend was all about being outside, with the people I love.

Gratitude is a trait worth devoting time to. To see the majesty of nature’s beauty just minutes away from the centre of London, is a beauty to behold. We are fortunate to have England’s green and pleasant land for our enjoyment. Getting out and about, experiencing nature up close, brings joy and perspective. My encounter with Stuart the horse was beautiful, he had a 20mins respite from flies on his face with a hug from me. Animals are a gift and should always be treated as such. Have a wonderful and productive week. Be present and connect with people you meet. See the opportunities that are all around you🥇

Before anything else, set your intention for the day. Think about your big picture direction of travel, then think about the small tasks you can do, to move you closer to your goals.
How do you intend to be today? Fun and engaging? Helpful? Focused? Productive?
What are you going to accomplish today? Think about how you want to shape your day. Preparedness isn’t being rigid and closed to new opportunities. It’s about deleting procrastination and distraction, until there isn’t nothing else there apart from progressions and satisfaction.

To bear a grudge shows a disrespect for your own inner peace. Why would you let someone have that hold over you? The incident, misdemeanour or crime against your sensibility is not eternal. To have it fester in your mind has a detrimental effect on your own well-being. Let’s look at the word “bear”, it means to “carry the weight of”, why would you do that to yourself? Concentrate on carrying yourself with self respect and self-care, you have no time or energy for the additional loads of grudges and distain. Unburden yourself of grudges today, contact that person, if you need to explain why they upset you, then do so, put it to bed, forgive and move on. Life’s far too short for that nonsense. We are not self-appointed judge, jury and executioners, we radiate love and understanding.
