Last week, we hosted the final British Afternoon Tea Workshop of the year for visiting French students on their school trips to the UK.

This year, we welcomed over 700 French students for a hands-on baking experience, where they learned how to create a traditional British afternoon tea, including scones, finger sandwiches, rocky road, and beautifully decorated cupcakes.

Designed to be both fun and educational, our workshops help students practise and improve their English while developing teamwork skills in a relaxed and interactive environment.

We have loved welcoming so many enthusiastic students and teachers throughout the year, and we can't wait to welcome even more groups in 2026-27!

We are delighted to announce our Fun with Food Cooking Classes for any home-educated children aged 2–8 years.
These fun and interactive sessions give children the opportunity to explore, create, and learn about a variety of foods. Each class is inspired by a popular children’s story, bringing cooking and storytelling together for a memorable learning experience.
📖 Our First Class: The Tiger Who Came to Tea
📅 Thursday 25th June
⏰ 10:00am–11:00am
📍 The Charis Centre, Jesus Church, Forty Hill, EN2 9EU
Children will make their very own marble cake and, while they are baking, we will enjoy reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea together. 🐅
At the end of the session, each child will:
✅ Take home their freshly baked cake
✅ Receive the recipe to recreate it at home
✅ Enjoy a fun and engaging story experience
💷 £12 per child
Price includes all ingredients and packaging.
☕ Refreshments will be available for parents and carers.

For sale – adorable duck fondant cake topper 🐥🎂
Perfect for a christening, new baby celebration, or birthday cake!

This was made but is no longer required, so I’d love for it to go to someone who can make use of it rather than letting it go to waste.

The topper measures approximately 10cm tall x 10cm long, so it’s a lovely size and would look great on cakes of all sizes. If stored correctly, it will last for a long time.

🎖️Duke of Edinburgh Award Skills 🎖️

I recently had the pleasure of helping a group of teens complete the skills section of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award through cooking.

Cooking is something everyone should have in their toolkit, even just the basics. It’s such an important life skill and lays the foundation for making healthier, more mindful choices. With a few simple skills, you gain the confidence to create fresh, wholesome meals you can feel proud to serve.

It’s easy for all of us to fall back on convenience and comfort foods, and as teens, those habits can quickly take hold. That’s why it’s so important to encourage young people to get into the kitchen, experiment, and start cooking for themselves rather than relying on quick, processed options.

I’m incredibly proud of the teens who have just completed their Bronze cooking skills… you’ve done brilliantly. 🤩

Hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend… what are you all up too?

🪴Gardening ~ I’ve repotted some herbs and lettuce that I’ve been growing… all supermarket bought but trying to get a bit more life out of them!!

🍫Baking ~ I’ve made kinder bueno brownies which are quite simply insanely delicious!

🐕Long walks with the dog and enjoying the nice weather we’ve been having ☀️before it 🌧️
