London Park School Mayfair

The NBA came to town and Basketball took over London. Our students were right in the middle of the action! 🏀

Across 14th and 16th January, students enjoyed an unforgettable run of three basketball experiences, each linking sport, learning and pure excitement. From elite coaching to live games and immersive challenges, it was a brilliant celebration of everything basketball can offer.

Students explored how sport and wellbeing connect, hearing directly from an Imperial College professor about brain health at the High Five for Life game between Imperial and King’s College London. Learning continued courtside, with interactive activities, free-throw challenges and even a half-court shoot-out. Congratulations to Enzo, David and Mr Green for winning the Golden Ticket! As Adam (Y12) reflected, it was “really interesting to learn about the different ways of promoting good brain health.”

The momentum continued with NBA coaching sessions, where students trained with elite coaches, developed their skills and even received exclusive NBA T-shirts. The experience was capped off with another visit to NBA House, a limited-time pop-up packed with interactive games, challenges and hands-on fun.

During this term's half term, Alex Y8 had the incredible opportunity to attend the British Interplanetary Society’s Reinventing Space Conference making friends amongst scientists, engineers, and innovators exploring the future of humanity beyond Earth. 🌍

Our incredible Deputy Head (Pastoral) has been awarded the Dukes Pastoral Care Award which is a huge and well-deserved recognition of the work she’s poured into LPS.

If you know LPS Mayfair, Sixth, and Hybrid, you know one thing: pastoral care is the heartbeat of our school.

Our sense of warmth, safety, and being truly known is the first thing families feel when they walk through our doors. So much of that comes from Hannah’s vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment to putting students at the centre of everything we do.

Over the years, she has shaped our pastoral systems into something exceptional:

🌿 A culture that prioritises wellbeing as much as achievement
🌿 A space where every young person can grow with confidence, honesty, and belonging.

And of course, none of this exists without the incredible staff who bring pastoral care to life every day. Together, we’ve built something we’re incredibly proud of and something that has become signature LPS.

Mrs Heidi Armstrong will be joining us as the next Head of LPS Mayfair, LPS Sixth, and LPS Hybrid starting September 2026, and we could not be more excited ✨

If you haven’t met her yet… well, she’s one of London’s most respected school leaders, bringing a wealth of experience in academic excellence, pastoral care, and future-ready learning. Most recently, she led the Senior School at Putney High School and she’s known across London for her thoughtful leadership and her passion for helping young people grow with confidence and purpose.

She’s been working with us this past year on curriculum, student experience, and learning environments, forming real connections with our staff and meeting many of our students along the way.

Mrs Armstrong brings the perfect blend of calm, compassionate leadership and forward-thinking vision. She understands who we are, what we value, and where we’re heading. With her at the helm, alongside Ms Susan Brooks at LPS Clapham, the future of the LPS group looks incredibly bright.

Over the coming terms, there will be a smooth transition as Mrs Armstrong and Dr Rainbow work closely together. We can’t wait to welcome her further into the heart of our community and begin this next exciting chapter of Learning Like a Londoner. 🚀
