Kimono Japanese Language Tutor

Traditional event in January:成人の日Coming of Age day is to celebrate 20 year old people in Japan. It used be January 15th but now is 2nd Monday of January. Many young men and women put on kimono and attend a ceremony 成人式in the city hall. Girls wear long sleeve furisode and boys wear hakama trousers. They may receive small gift 記念品 from local government. The ceremony is held in summer in the snowy regions. After the ceremony they go to the Japanese pubs 居酒屋, restaurants and discos to enjoy themselves. But sometimes people get drunk 酔っ払うand go crazy羽目をはずすlike youngsters all over the world!😆

2月３日Feb 3rd is 節分Setsubun, the last day of 冬winter in the traditional lunar calendar. We do 豆まきthe bean/peanut scattering ceremony to drive out おにdevils and atract ふくgood fortune. Sumo wrestlers and celebrities are invited to お寺Temples and 神社Shrines to scatter peanuts to the audience.From Feb 4th we have officially 春spring!
