Bees are my favourite insects and honey my favourite topping. So today it has to be bees!! What is your favourite mini-beast and how would you choose to portray it? Here we have a brilliant steam punk drawing by Charlotte Jordan, a stunning embroidered bee, an impressionist style painting of a bee and a bee created from natural objects foraged from the forest floor. Looking up lovely images of mythical mushroom people for today’s post, I have observed that they are all male, and shall we say on the senior side!! I wonder why we think some creatures are always going to be female and some male and some are always young and others are always older? Anyway enjoy these, but how would your portray yours? I have loved quilting since I was given a dolly quilt by my gorgeous Auntie Liz when I was about four. Here are some fabulous examples featuring sea and waves in honour of the summer hols!! Thank you to the following artists : Dana Meek, Heliana Tyler, Svetlana Gluskin

I love the idea of creating something out of something else, especially something that you found!! Many years ago for a friend’s wedding I created a serious of montages of heart shaped pebbles that I found on a favourite beach that she and her belovéd used to visit. So here are some images of lovely designs created on or with found pebbles. I have pebbles at MUSICART for my young creatives to work their magic on, but what would you create? Over the years at MUSICART painting, making clothes and habitats for peg dolls has been a very popular activity. Even the very youngest child can create a little character and the older more dexterous children can make more complex and intricate creations. Hama beads are also a very popular activity at MUSICART. We encourage our brilliant young artists to think outside the box and perhaps make lace patterns or 3D shapes or crazy amalgamated flat designs. When researching photos to inspire and activate the creativity within you, I often end up going down a rabbit hole I did not expect and finding something extraordinary. That is the case for today’s post which is dedicated to the mind bogglingly miniscule sculptures created by Willard Wigan. I leave you to marvel in astonishment!!

It’s Pride month and a gloriously sunny day, so why not combine the two and celebrate both with these fabulous artwork creations. What would you incorporate into your sunny Pride celebratory artwork and what medium would you choose?

Today I am looking at birds because I have been entranced by the green parakeets who have recently made a large tree, two doors down, home. Whilst they don’t have the beautiful voice of a thrush, blackbird or robin, there is something magical about seeing tropical birds in the wild in North London!! Here are parakeets depicted through the media of paint and embroidery, a beautiful little needle-felted wren and a stunning quilt block featuring doves - what bird would you create and how would you do it?
