Today, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers joins the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the global shipping sector in celebrating the International Day for Women in Maritime. βš“ πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦°

This year’s official theme, "From Policy to Practice: advancing gender equality for maritime excellence" aligns closely with our own core values. We are deeply passionate about championing the vital role that female leadership, expertise, and innovation plays across the industry. From shipbroking and chartering to maritime law and port logistics, women are central to the industry's continued advancement.

Our Royal Charter commits us to maintaining the highest professional standards globally, and we firmly believe that true excellence is achieved by nurturing a diverse, highly qualified workforce. Through our global branch network and Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQEs), we remain dedicated to providing women with the rigorous training, qualifications, and opportunities required to succeed and lead in this dynamic industry.

While we celebrate the remarkable achievements of women throughout our global network today, we also recognise that the journey towards true equity continues. Supporting, educating, and mentoring the next generation of female maritime professionals remains a core, long-term priority for the Institute.

We extend our warmest congratulations and celebrations to all our female Members, Fellows, and students worldwide. Thank you for your continued dedication to shaping the future of global shipping.

Growing our community: The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers officially launches the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers ASEAN Branch! πŸŽ‰

The Branch was unveiled today, the 23rd of April, at the first ICS ASEAN Shipping Forum during Singapore Maritime Week, marking a new milestone for our global network.

As Capt. Saunak Rai (FICS), Chairman of the ASEAN Branch notes:

"The challenges facing shipping today do not respect borders, sectors, or job titles. They require collaboration rather than isolation."

Building on the 48-year success of our Singapore Branch, the ASEAN Branch does just that, providing a unified, coordinated platform for maritime professionals to connect, collaborate and grow across Southeast Asia.
