Donate to the CIJ via Big Give Earth Raise Campaign today and help us train journalists at the forefront of the climate crisis. 🚨 Link ⬇️⬇️⬇️
🗓️ For one week only: Wed 22 April to Wed 29 April all your donations will be doubled!!
🟢 Why do it?
We make journalists better investigators and help them to tell stories that make a real difference.
Thanks to the investigations published by the journalists we trained:
✅Nepalese schoolchildren's lives were protected from climate-induced landslides
✅$15B of renewable energy funding which went missing in Lesotho was uncovered
✅Protections for Cameroonian mangrove forests were reinforced
🟢Why now?
In 2026 we offered 10 scholarships to journalists from Latin America, Africa or South Asia to take our Climate Investigations Course. They are half way through the programme now.
The quality of applicants was so high, we could have offered three times as many places, but... we didn't have enough funding.
So this will help us train five more excellent journalists in climate investigations.
Here is what the current scholars say:
“I joined the course to better understand climate issues in Sierra Leone and across Africa, and it is already changing the way I approach climate journalism.”
Patricia Sia Ngevao, Sierra Leone, 2026 Scholar.
“The course is halfway through, but my understanding of climate investigative journalism has already started improving significantly."
Yash Sadhak Shrivastava, India, 2026 Scholar.

We remember when people used to stuff crisps packets into the Royal Mail post boxes, this forced crisps producers to fund soft plastics recycling programmes (it's not perfect, but back then all crisps packaging went to the landfill).
And now there seems to be a new "post it" movement: with the textiles.
How do you recycle your textiles?
‘You sold it – now recycle it’: the protesters mailing worn-out clothes to the shops they bought them from
Charity shops won’t take them. Councils incinerate them. Retailers dump them on the global south. We’re running out of ideas on how to deal with our used clothes – and the rag mountain just keeps growing

“The scheme was excellent. Everything I hoped to learn during the course I did. Being able to learn from the best of the industry was enlightening. As someone who wouldn’t have been able to financially support studying as part of an investigative journalism course, the scheme has been a truly fulfilling experience and one I do not take for granted.” - Feedback 2024.
