Yesterday, the (IPI) hosted a policy forum marking the 25th anniversary of Resolution 1325 on (WPS).

Panelists explored vital topics including , tackling bias in , breaking taboos faced by uniformed women, and advancing women’s full, equal, and safe participation in operations.

Today, the UN Security Council holds its annual open debate on Women, Peace, and Security.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the landmark Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) — the first resolution to recognize the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women and girls.

Resolution 1325 also acknowledged women’s vital contributions to conflict prevention, resolution, and peacebuilding, and emphasized the importance of their equal, full, and meaningful participation in all decision-making processes and peace negotiations.
