As I prepare for my set in Camden this Saturday, I find myself reminiscing over my FIRST EVER London gig - which was in Camden. Circa Y2K, and it was also the first & last time I took public transport to a gig 🤣
Getting 80 records in a flight case from Kings Cross station to the venue, was exhausting. We took it in turns to carry the thing, it was a hot summer's day, I feel so bad for the boys, they just wanted a beer, so they powered on through til we got there.
The venue was a wonderful pub that had candles absolutely everywhere (probably wouldn't be allowed to do that these days), I don't recall the name, perhaps someone out there will recognise it!
That's not a smoke machine, and we didn't have digital camera's back then so this is the only pic 😂
26 years go, how this DJ lark has changed.. when this pic was taken, UDG record bags/trolley's didnt exist, CDJs didn't exist, smartphones didnt exist, social media didn't exist... and I didn't even start waving my arms around during a DJ set until I played in China in Y2K+5!
