Spend a day at the Neighbourhood Health Hub. 🏥

Built to tackle major local health inequalities, the Neighbourhood Health Hub acts as a “passport to good health”. Its core mission is to empower residents with the knowledge and confidence to look after their own and their community’s wellbeing.

In collaboration with local government and community partners, we are actively building capacity from within.
Last week, we welcomed volunteers from our Newham community. These volunteers are stepping up to become vital Health Champions within their own neighbourhoods. In partnership with Newham Council, the hub delivered first aid training alongside upskilling on how to do health checks.

Two teams from our East London Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club are in Austria today, competing at the prestigious 3x3 Wheelchair Masters Vienna 2026. 🏀

This is a massive moment for our student-athletes to showcase their talent before thousands of spectators. For UEL student and High Performance athlete Joel Clifton, it is the ultimate culmination of his journey:

"I'm super excited for the opportunity to showcase the hard work we've been putting in at UEL on an international stage. It also feels like a fantastic way to conclude my time on the UEL High Performance Programme, which has helped me grow both as an athlete and as a person."

The women's squad is being led by captain Sophie Patterson, who is ready to guide a brilliant mix of talent against the world's best:
"I'm really excited to be captaining our Phoenix women's 3x3 team in Vienna. It's a fantastic opportunity to represent our organisation and compete on the international stage."

The action kicks off today and leads up to the medal games this Sunday, 14 June. Drop a comment below to show your support for Joel, Sophie, and the entire squad! Let us go, !

When HRH The Princess of Wales visited UEL last month to launch The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood's Foundations for Life guide, it sparked an important conversation about the role that universities can play in improving lifelong outcomes for children.

Writing for Times Higher Education, UEL Vice-Chancellor & President Professor Amanda Broderick and Christian Guy, Executive Director of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, argue that universities must embed a stronger understanding of early social and emotional development across education, workforce training and research.

Is this June rain confusing you too? ☔️🌧️

Sometimes a walk in the London rain with the right community is exactly the pick me up you need.

With today’s downpour outside, we are throwing it back to our active hike to Hampstead Heath. It reminded us that getting outside, moving together, and embracing the elements, even when the weather doesn’t play along can still be the perfect way to reset and clear your mind.

Where is your favourite spot to recharge in London, rain or shine?
