Congratulations to Professor Almudena Sevilla, winner of the LSESU Teaching Award for Personal and Professional Development, and Dr Simon Tawfic, Highly Commended for Affirming Academic Mentor.

We’re also delighted to celebrate Emma Louise Blondes, named our department’s Winner at the LSE Class Teacher Awards 2025–26. In addition, Simon Tawfic, Maria Karagiannidou, Justice Aina and Chiara De-Poli, were all Highly Commended.

Professor Kitty Stewart introduces SP430: Social Security Policies, an optional module for our MSc ISPP students. Through a comparative approach, students explore how different countries design social safety nets to handle everything from job loss to aging populations.

Professor Stephen Jenkins awarded a FINDS Fellowship 🎉

Huge congratulations to Professor Stephen Jenkins on being awarded a prestigious FINDS Fellowship following a highly competitive selection process.

The fellowship, part of the Financial Data Service (FINDS) operated by Smart Data Foundry and the University of Edinburgh and funded by UKRI, will support Stephen’s latest research project: “Fluctuating Finances: instability in individuals’ incomes and spending.”

LSE's Mannheim Centre for Criminology hosted its first Annual Lecture, in which Prof Alison Liebling launched her pathbreaking new book Aristotle’s Prison. In it, Prof Liebling draws on decades of research on prisons to study “the universals of human experience” at the “extreme edges” of where that experience lies.

LSE's Mannheim Centre for Criminology hosted its first PhD Symposium across two packed days at LSE’s campus. Ten PhD students travelled to LSE from far and wide to enjoy rigorous and supportive discussion about their research with the Mannheim Centre’s criminological community.
