You can help save StJD Primary school by showing up to the public meeting TOMORROW at 3:30pm at the school and sharing your opposition to the proposed closure with representatives from Lambeth. Please come and help us fill the school hall with friends and neighbours who want to keep our school open!

'Decimation of the church-school estate in The Diocese of Southwark ' says Vicar of St John the Divine Kennington in Church Times
Our outcomes 'exceed others in educational attainment & enrichment' with great outcomes for Black African pupils especially (our pupils are only 1% White British). The school budget is balanced with no debts. We have a beautiful, purpose-built Victorian site (hard to convert legally & practically!)
But Southwark Diocese Board of Education say 'this is not about the merits of particular schools'
Our school has incredible links with our parish, which receives strategic funding for its life-changing choral ministry with CYP - our pupils who are in the church choir were on the front page of this year's Archbishops' Council annual report The Church of England

Families fight back against school closure threatening to uproot vital community network Just one per cent of pupils at SJtD are white British, while English is a second language for 68 per cent.

How can our feedback have been 'crucial' when nothing changed from initial Council proposal?
Our pupils, parents & community feel invisible!
We have above average academic results & balanced budget despite many pupils speaking English as a second language & being recipients of Free School Meals.
Our part of London can be challenging - our children need support that understands them & our school provides that! OFTED even said so - 'Leaders know pupils and their families well. They are acutely aware of challenges in the local community & respond well to them’

Due to Brexit, the cost of living crisis, the pandemic and other factors, fewer children are going to Primary School in 🏫
This can put our schools at risk, as they are funded by the number of students they have 💰
Following lots of feedback from the community, we have launched the second part of our consultation on school places 📝
We are proposing some options and want to hear your thoughts before we make the final decision🤔
This part of the consultation closes on 7 October.

If you missed watching the story about our campaign to keep our amazing local primary school site open on BBC London last night you can have a listen to it thanks to BBC Sounds at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0jqc157
Find out more about the campaign and why our school is particularly worth saving at https://savesjtdschool.com/
Our school has a balanced budget, and our pupils far outperform the Lambeth averages at Key Stage 1 & 2, although our community face significant disadvantages.
Yet Lambeth Council are choosing to keep other school sites open.
In the above interview with the BBC our chair of governors calls it 'socially unjust'.

Devastatingly after 150+ yrs Lambeth Council is proposing to end education on our school site. Our school has excellent educational outcomes, a balanced budget & builds community. (We also have a wonderful vegetable garden, wildlife area, outdoor table-tennis, and lots more!)
Our school budget is balanced, and despite being in a relatively deprived part of London, our educational outcomes are excellent. For black African children in particular, our outcomes are exceptional, outperforming both the national and Lambeth KS1 averages (by 20% in reading, 16% in writing & 10% in maths). We offer a broad curriculum, support our many children who have special and additional needs.
Most importantly, we are a safe and happy place that our children love coming to each day. Some of our staff & parents were themselves pupils!
