Exploring the Sounds of 'i' and 'eay' in Year 1! 🗣️📚
Our Year 1 pupils have been busy practicing their phonics. Mr Foakes led the class on the carpet, starting with some fun sounds and actions from Phonics TV to explore the different sounds for 'i' and the 'eay' sound.
We delved into how these sounds work in similar words, comparing tricky pairs like child and children to see how spelling can change even when the meaning is connected. 🤔✨ After the group session, the children moved to their whiteboards to practice sounding out and spelling these words themselves. It was wonderful to see them applying their knowledge so confidently!

Stepping into the world of puppets ignited the imaginations of our Year 3s!
It was a pleasure to welcome North London's Little Angel Theatre; our pupils were thrilled to enjoy both a performance of 'The Story of Stories' and a puppetry making workshop.
During the performance we learned about how stories began to be told, from caveman times, to Shakespear and then to our present day.
In the afternoon, it was time to design and create. Year 3s began to make their very own puppets in the form of a story book. Each front cover became the face of their puppets and told a tale. Lots of materials were used to bring their visions to life.
The magic of puppetry and performance will certainly be sticking with us!

After achieving incredible 11+ results, a week of outdoor adventures has been the perfect way to share a lot of laughter and create treasured memories during their penultimate half-term at St. Aubyn’s. We can’t wait to hear all your tales when you return this evening!

We are proud to share an important development for our school community.
From September 2026, St. Aubyn’s will come together with Bancroft's School, alongside Woodford Green Preparatory School, to form the Bancroft’s Family of Schools.
For each school, this means remaining true to our individual identities while uniting for collective strength. At St. Aubyn’s, we will retain the warm, caring community where children are known, encouraged and supported to grow bravely, faithfully and happily.
Day-to-day school life will continue as it does now. St. Aubyn’s will keep its own leadership, staff, curriculum, routines, traditions and ethos, while benefiting from the stability and shared expertise of a wider family.
This carefully considered charitable partnership will bring our three schools together through closer collaboration, supporting a positive future for St. Aubyn’s while preserving the character and ethos our families know and value.
We are excited for this next chapter and look forward to all that we will continue to achieve together as part of the Bancroft’s Family of Schools.
