2025 was an intense, defining year for all of us at ComicsDI.
It was a year of bold decisions, long nights, creative risks, and an unshakable belief in the power of storytelling. Together, we championed a new era of African motion comic urban drama, pushing boundaries and refusing to settle for the ordinary.
Was it worth it?
Without hesitation, we can say it was worth every single frame and worth all the unseen grinding behind the scenes. Every sacrifice, every redraw, every revision brought us closer to the stories we believe Africa deserves to see and feel.
This message goes out to our clients, partners, collaborators, and loyal fans. Thank you for trusting the vision, standing with us, and growing with us. You are the reason the journey matters.
As we step boldly into 2026, we wish you a year filled with clarity of purpose, creative breakthroughs, shared wins, and moments that remind you why you started. May this new year reward your courage, multiply your efforts, and open doors you never imagined.

A PODCAST WAS NEVER PART OF THE PLAN.
But when our Afro-Urban Motion Comic Drama Series- Alamu: Diary of a Street Lagosian Season One (part 2) came knocking, the idea of a podcast crept in during a team meeting, and wouldn’t leave.
At first, I resisted. Too much work, too much research, too much… everything.
But then it hit me, why wait for platforms when you can create one?
That’s how this limited podcast series was born.
And now, as we close with Episode 4- “African Comic Villains and Antiheroes: Why We Love Complex Characters”- I can say this journey stretched me, shaped me, and despite the fear of failing at this, I learnt a significant lesson; For creatives, failure doesn’t really exist… only lessons that make us better creators.
Join me for the grand finale. Let’s celebrate imperfection, depth, and the beauty of the human (and not-so-human) condition.

WHAT’S IN A STORY?
A few years ago, I had the rare honour of adapting the legendary Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s autobiography titled “Awo” as a source material for a comic script.
Reading through his life: the conflicts, the challenges, the triumphs, I saw the roots of his visionary ideals:
• Free education for all.
• Free healthcare for children.
• Africa’s first TV service in 1959.
His story reminded me that storytelling is more than entertainment. It shapes perception, preserves culture, and inspires action.
Tomorrow, on the Alamu Series Podcast, I dive into the heartbeat of every great tale- Conflict, through the lens of villains and anti-heroes. These characters drive drama, push heroes, and often reflect uncomfortable truths about society and ourselves.

Why Not Motion Comics? The Art Lives On!
Everyone asked why I ventured into motion comics- a “forgotten” medium in a 3D-driven world.
My answer? Why not.
Art evolves, but it never dies. The rise of 3D doesn’t erase the soul of 2D. Just as the thrill of film doesn’t make stage plays obsolete. Every medium has its own power.
With the release of the penultimate episode of “Alamu: Diary of a Street Lagosian”, The Pawn Master, we’ve just hit our fastest growth rate of the entire season.
That tells me one thing: African motion comics can redefine creativity, innovation, and storytelling when done right.
