It’s getting harder to ignore what’s happening to the planet.
Paris is expected to hit around 40°C (about 104°F) this Tuesday, and many homes still don’t have air conditioning. That means a lot of people will be dealing with dangerous heat in spaces that weren’t designed for it.
At the same time, the global population keeps growing:
We’re about 8.1 billion people in 2026, and we’re projected to reach around 9.2 billion by 2040.
That combination matters.
More people means:
Higher energy demand
More urban heat (cities trapping even more warmth)
Greater strain on water and food systems
More people exposed to extreme weather events
And heatwaves like this don’t hit everyone equally. In cities without widespread AC, older buildings and vulnerable people take the hardest hit.
This isn’t just “summer getting hot.” It’s a system under increasing pressure; climate warming layered on top of a growing global population.
The question isn’t just how hot it gets, but how many people will have the ability to cope with increasing temperatures.
Thought of the day! 🥵🥵

But this is no ordinary fairy tale.
