**TWO WELLINGTON SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS**

We are so proud to share that two Elstree 2024 Leavers, Mofe and Lachie have been awarded Sports Scholarships at Wellington College.

When they were at Elstree, Mofe and Lachie played in the top teams across a wide range of sports. In their final Summer Term, Mofe was Captain of Athletics and Lachie was Captain of Tennis.

It is wonderful to hear that they have continued to excel with their sport at Wellington, and that this has been recognised with two Sport Scholarship awards at the end of their first Year.

Well done to both boys!

As starts to the summer holidays go, it doesn’t get much better than this! 🛶🎈🏕️🔥

Some of our lucky Year 5 and 6 boys and girls joined Mr Attwood and Mr Parks for 2 nights of camping and outdoor activities in the wonderful grounds here at Elstree. Firing water balloons with a giant trebuchet, catapulting sweets at tin cans, tucking into homemade pizzas, roasting marshmallows over a camp fire and cooling off in the Elstree lakes - it looks like they had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine with their friends! Great job Mr Attwood and Mr Parks - it looks like the dog had fun too and the morning bacon and eggs look delicious! 🤩 👏

This week, Miss Zvornik and Mrs Young have hosted a camp for the children currently in our Nursery. They have had a very happy, action-packed time!

Whether it’s been splashing in the paddling pool, pond dipping, taking walks around the beautiful grounds, watering the garden, baking and cooking or getting crafty with lots of colouring, collages and stickers, there has been a lot going on! The carefully selected activities have combined sensory and imaginary play with tasks that build practical life skills, fine motor skills and core strength. When it’s all got a bit much, there have been peaceful moments of yoga and mindfulness, and then they have all enjoyed tucking into the frozen berry yogurt they made, which looked so delicious!

Our Nursery Camp runs again next week with morning, full day or long day spaces available, from £38.50. Our busy Summer Term came to a close with the exciting news that we have been shortlisted for Independent Boarding School of the Year by the Independent School of the Year Awards 2025!

At Elstree we welcome boys and girls in Year 4 and above to board with us on a flexi and weekly basis - and this term our boarding house was full to the brim! Not only do the children have a wonderful time taking part in clubs and activities galore, they also build their independence, self-esteem and organisational skills - not to mention friendships that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to ISOTY2025 for recognising Elstree’s fantastic boarding offering. It is a privilege to provide an all-round education to the children in our care and boarding is such an important part of the Prep School experience. It is wonderful to see the children flourish and grow in character and confidence before they go on to Senior School.

Congratulations to all the shortlisted schools. We are lucky to be taking part and wish everyone luck in the final awards! 👏💫

The Elstree Triathlon was another sure sign that the end of the summer term really is upon us.

In relay teams, or as individual athletes, the Prep School boys and girls battled it out in the pool, peddled around the grounds on bikes and finally, ran a loop (or two!) of Douai Abbey playing fields.

Our congratulations go to this year’s Triathlon winner, Alice Fawcett - well done Alice!

Mr Pugsley MC’d, DJ’d and sang from the front steps, keeping us well informed and equally entertained together with a group of children as his backing singers and dancers. Pre-Prep children cheered and danced from the sidelines and every year group, house and team cheered one another on in this test of stamina and endurance.

Mr Morris and a well positioned support crew oversaw the running of this fantastically choreographed event.

Capping off a great summer’s sporting afternoon, everyone tucked into a delicious BBQ lunch on the Front Lawn afterwards.

💫🎶🎭 The McMullen Hall was transformed into a Cabaret Show last night for our Year 8 Leavers’ Entertainment, and what a Show it was! 🎭🎶💫

Parents and siblings enjoyed a pre-performance drink in the stunning Rose Garden, with DJ Ted and Josh, (who was just back from the Prep School Athletic Championships where he picked up Gold and Bronze!) mixing their tunes on the decks in the background. It was the perfect evening for fun, laughter, reminiscing, celebrating and shedding a tear or two!

The audience was treated to a variety of sketches and skits, performed with the relevant humour, sincerity or tomfoolery that each piece deserved. We were taken to the battlefields of Blackadder, immersed in a French lesson with Vicky Pollard, sampled the dining room frustrations of Fawlty Towers and couldn’t help but sympathise with Kevin the Teenager’s parents. There were some stunning solos, duets and group pieces, a boys’ “amateur” version of “Six” followed later by a girl’s pro version, the old favourite “Four Candles”, a scene from Mastermind and even a synchronised (or not so synchronised!) boys’ swimming team demo!

A huge thank you to Mr Pugsley and Mr Spencer for their efforts in pulling this together in a couple of days. Also a special thanks to the Technical team that helped put the show on especially Thomas Mitchell on Lights and a team of IT experts led by Jayden, Thomas and Kevin who put the PowerPoints together.

Well done and thank you everyone!

🏆🥇🏃‍♂️We are so proud of Josh who came back a ✨NATIONAL CHAMPION✨from the National Prep Schools Athletic Championships!🏃‍♂️🥇🏆

6 Elstree athletes headed to the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham (home of the Commonwealth Games 2022) with Mr Smith and Miss Boyd.

Josh excelled and came third in the high jump with a PB and then went on to win gold in the triple jump and become the National Champion.

This is a much-deserved end to Josh’s career at Elstree. He is an outstanding sportsman and athlete and we are absolutely thrilled for him.

Well done Josh and we look forward to hearing of your future sporting endeavours and achievements. 🙌👏💫

The Year 8 Guest Night is always a highlight of The Leavers’ Programme.

The Year 8 children invited a guest to join them for an evening at Elstree: a walk around the grounds, drinks under the stretch tent and a delicious dinner in the Elstree Dining Room.

A wonderful array of grandparents, godparents, family friends, uncles, aunts, brothers, cousins, guardians and teachers were the ‘chosen guests’ and made for a very happy, convivial and memorable gathering.

Thank you to our fabulous Year 7s who were charming waiters and waitresses throughout the evening. It’s your turn next year...!
