♧♧♧ A teenager asked me yesterday: "Why do I need to learn this when ChatGPT can do it in 5 seconds?"
Honestly? .

I realised the PURPOSE of formal education can not just be about transferring information anymore. We literally have infinite information at our fingertips.
So what IS the point?
Here's what I've landed on: Education should prepare us to be HUMAN in an AI world. That means:

♧ Teaching empathy and emotional intelligence (AI can't truly feel)

♧ Fostering creativity and original thinking (not just pattern recognition)

♧ Building ethical reasoning skills (who decides what's right?)

♧ Developing discernment (what's real?
what's AI-generated?
what matters?)

♧ Nurturing collaboration and communication (the most human skills of all).

Maybe formal education's new purpose is not to compete with AI; it's to prepare us to be the kind of humans who can guide it wisely.
Just some thoughts as I navigate this brave new world with my kids. 💙

🚨 UNPOPULAR OPINION:

Our education system is preparing kids for jobs that won't exist.

Let's be honest—AI is already doing what we spent 12+ years of schooling learning to do:
- Writing reports ✍️
- Solving equations 🧮
- Analysing data 📊
- Even coding 💻

So WHY are we still running schools like it's 1950?

The PURPOSE of formal education needs a complete overhaul. We don't need human calculators anymore. We need:

🔥 Question-askers, not answer-memorisers (the person who asks the best question wins)

🔥 Ethical thinkers (who teaches AI what "good" means?)

🔥 Relationship builders (the one thing AI can't replace: genuine human connection)

We're not preparing kids for the world of tomorrow - we are preparing them for the world of yesterday.

I used to think education was about memorising facts and mastering skills. But now? I'm realising the PURPOSE of formal education might need a complete reimagining.

Maybe it's less about WHAT we know and more about:
- How we think critically
- How we collaborate with others (and with AI)
- How we ask the right questions
- How we navigate information overload
- How we stay curious and adaptable

The world our kids will graduate into looks nothing like the one we grew up in. Shouldn't education reflect that?

Is traditional education still serving its purpose, or is it time for a radical shift? 💭
